Maybe they can squeeze a little out, but they will not produce enough to feed an infant. They've had troons take medicine off label to induce lactation before and they do not produce enough milk to exclusively breast feed. Also, no one knows what the side effects are of using those drugs (which pass through to the breast milk) on the kids. There have been no studies on it. They're just experimenting on kids when they do this.

ETA: In the troons they documented as doing this, they measured how much milk was produced but they did NO testing to see if and how it differed from maternal breast milk. Or to see how much of the medicine the babies were being exposed to.

The most horrifying part is that doctors were on board with helping men lactate when they aren't even trying to feed an infant. Simply because it is a fetish for them. So medical experimentation happens on children. I am reminded of a parent who had to get a court order to allow a possibly life saving hail mary attempt to save their dying child with a drug approved in Europe but not locally. Child was too ill to transport to Europe. It was harrowing. This was not news worthy. It was one of the most traumatizing experiences in the life of that parent. It was not newsworthy because similar things happen, often. Their child survived, after months of abuse heaped on the parents for being so audacious as to seek out a solution that had very promising results in animal trials and with limited human tests. Their dying 8 year old. In palliative care.

I for some reason compare that case to the above described experiment, where a newborn child, (healthy and a perfect blessing to hundreds of thousands of potential adoptive parents who would have moved heaven and earth to feed that baby) was subjected to potential malnutrition and failure to thrive along with unknown complications of drug contaminated...Chestmilk.

I am also reminded of the vitriolic abuse levelled at expectant mothers when they go to discuss which of their prescription medications should be stopped while pregnant and breastfeeding. By doctors. Despite reams of clinical evidence showing NO effect on fetal development and 20+ years of on-label use. But if it's a troon? Stunning and fucking brave?
