I made it about 40 minutes in and had to stop watching. It's legitimately frustrating to watch. He makes good points and he's so close to putting the pieces together, but then he starts backpedaling hard and I legit can't tell if it's because he's retarded or is desperately trying to maintain his leftist cred.
First 20 minutes is him dissecting the ins and outs of cancel culture. The way accusations are morphed over time, the process of one thing turning into someone being cancelled. Great.
Then he does a total 180 and is like "well that's bad unless it's against some right wing nazi bigot then it's okay." Legit no irony, not a single shred of self awareness as he is being called "anti-nb" and having to twist himself into knots trying to apologize for his "anti-nb" statements or whatever.
And then later on when he's getting into the stuff with Buck Angel and John Waters he goes on this tirade about "anime avatar fascists" like his viewers were getting a little too much reality so we better reign it in with some buzzwords so no one mistakes him for Tranny Hitler or something.
Someone could edit this video and take out the appeasements to tranny twitter and it'd have a lot of well thought out, interesting points. Estrogen is a hell of a drug, I guess.

At the very least, Contra used at least the James Charles situation(s) as an example of why cancel culture is bad (not just using her own experience), including digging into the reasonings behind why James was cancelled in the first place and explains WHY that's bad, I think she at least knows why it's bad, potentially or realistically. For sure, being targetted probably sparked her initial disdain (if she didn't have it before). However, considering the amount of time between Opulence and Canceling, it may very well be she was figuring out why it felt so bad to be cancelled and if there were other situations where people were cancelled unjustifiably.
That being said, it's a delicious irony when ContraPoints can make mistakes and apologize, but none of her detractors are even willing to give her the time of day.
She's using buzzwords that we don't like because she's a leftytuber (which, for related reasons, pisses people off about Sargon when he's not a dumbass) but her overall point with the comparison between digging that deep and Kiwi Farms is mostly to showcase an intense hypocrisy of transactivists searching into a person's life (previous aliases and all) in order to find things to hate about them is no different than what we do. She makes that point because she knows well that the general consensus with the cancel crowd is that all anyone does here is dox trans people and stalk them to death.
It's tu quoque, but it's not like the appeal to hypocrisy never has the potential to be accurate. It's also why she uses the phrase "[My detractors] are trying to strongarm cis people into disowning a transwoman for associating with a transman", because when you boil it down to that, that's ultimately hypocritical on the end of cancel culture.

Meanwhile, for someone else, like a small time creator, a gay person, a trans person, or someone who isn't white, because they often have fewer support networks. Contra herself admits she has privilege that other trans creators might not have within the same video, because she is not a small time creator anymore, and because she is a part of multiple communities. If someone smaller than Contra was cancelled, they may have fewer mechanisms to rebound and may find themselves in a hopeless situation. Sure, it'll sting for cis white dudes with a lot of money, but money can buy new friends, you can still get asspats from your own demographics because there's simply more cis people in the real world and more white people in most places with internet (save Asian nations)
An example of what happens when you lose everything includes Alec Holowka, who was cancelled by Zoe Quinn and killed himself not very long after because his colleagues, family and friends all left. Sure, he was an indie dev who worked on ten games... but most only really know him for Night in the Woods, because that was his most prominent role. Another example was August Ames, also a suicide victim over a tweet that Contra did say was homophobic.

1)She presumes that her detractors are acting in good faith, wereas it is very likely that a lot of them are partially or totally motivated by spite or malice.
2)She never considers that it could be a cultural issue within 'woke' groups she correctly discerns the mechanisms by which things snowballs but fails to recognize that an entire community with strong moral/political stances and a siege mentality is going to be naturally inclined towards interal purges and witch hunts.
Otherwise okay vid with some good jokes.

For me it was when contra mocked her critics on twitter by using a collage of anime images and saying that all the anime avatars are N@zi's larping as woke gender queer anime zoomers. (Yes contra getting hundreds of likes and retweets is really plausible on such a niche' ironic group and definitely isn't implausible for all these accounts and followers to have spent months or years building up their popularity just to personally cancel you for something no one could predict would happen. Definitely not a massive SJW dog whistle to silence all critics by attaching a conspiracy to them.
