For a nation of white supremacy we certainly have shitloads of not white people in positions of governmental power, on police forces nation wide, in our military, with legal practices, working as doctors, working in education, and they are allowed to vote, own property, travel freely between states, and well anything a white guy can do so can they.... except for maybe sunburn really badly.

Organized crime was around long before Prohibition.
In any case, the temperance movement- as it was then called - was largely made up of religious groups, and you can look back at the things they produced and see this. Early feminists associated with the cause because they thought no alcohol meant less drunken husbands abusing their wives.

The claim that organized crime advanced, as a result of prohibition, and the opportunity to deal in illegal booze, does not involve a claim that organized crime did not previous exist. The word "develop", and it's derivatives, are frequently used to describe advancement, as in "My neighbour is developing their property", and not simply to describe the initiation of something.

I don't object to SOME taxes, or even some gov't safety net, but I object to a perpetually metastasizing bureaucracy, which demands more and more tax income, in order to pay for it's burgeoning inefficiencies, and corrupt kick-back schemes, like exist between the military and the military contractors.
Did you know that replacing an interior door in military housing, because your kids decided to play hockey inside the house, costs $900, and it comes off your paycheck, because you have to go through military procurement, instead of driving down the the Home Depot, and buying a door for $49, which you can then install, yourself?
