I noticed a few posts in some thread about favourite YouTubers mentioning SMG4, so I figured I could provide a space for people to more fully flesh out why they like SMG4 so much, as well as the merits or even flaws that his content has.

SMG4 has been around since the late 00s. He first started with a poorly sized, poor quality recording of Super Mario 64 on an emulator with subtitles pasted on it to represent the characters' voices. There was no sound or music in this first vid if I recalled correctly, and SMG4 has later stated that he is completely embarrassed about it because of how far he had come since then. He also blatantly showed insecurity in his video description back then, where it says "this is my first blooper so please don't post bad comments if you don't like it".

Ever since then, he has skyrocketed to fame with his SM64 bloopers that evolved into entire arcs spanning several episodes such as the Waluigi arc and the Anime arc. His videos have millions and millions of views as a whole, with his "Who let the chomp out?" blooper having over 51 million views! Now that he has his own company called Glitchy Productions where he works in a partnership with his brother, he has even started different projects like the upcoming Meta Runner and even live-action shorts.

I've been watching him for years, and he's definitely come a long way from lazy WMM&Project 64 videos.
However, his fanbase...you have the majority of cringy 9-year olds, people who jack off to the female trio, the constant war between fans of old and modern SMG4, and on the top of that, Starman3, a fellow SM64 machinimist, who made a lot of appearances in SMG4's old videos,has actually been accused of pedophilia by multiple people.

I used to watch his stuff years ago. I stopped through a combination of age (I like random dumb humor but idk, it was waning on me in this instance) and just really getting tired of the constant flood of OCs. Around the time I called it quits it felt like there was a new one thrown in every couple of videos.

Like i said, I feel like he's trying to turn his channel into some cheap knockoff of Rooster Teeth, you can definitely see it with Meta Runner and how much it rips off RWBY, not to mention partnering with Crunchyroll to produce it was a pretty braindead move

BTW They literally privated the video after watching it, all because they didn't like it.... i guess working with Crunchyroll really shifted they're views on what's okay and not okay

Why are you even still checking up on SMG4 if you no longer like him? You seem pretty consumed with obsessive hatred almost to the point of being a lolcow yourself, you remind me of CWC getting upset over Sonic's arm colour.

For the record I don't even watch SMG4 myself anymore, I grew out of it eventually.

Actually i still like SMG4, it's just that he's not that entertaining or funny anymore, and i mainly just watch him just to see what he'll do next, so i apologize, didn't mean to come off like that

I remember watching this guy and then dropping off after the episode where Mario swaps with a bootleg version of himself or something like that. Checked the channel a few months back and it was a ton of OCs I didn't know.
I mean, it was funny when I first saw it, but I think my humor has changed significantly since that point.
