I'm guessing a lot of them have personal lives that are chaotic. Whether it's a marginal income or a victim complex or their own brains rejecting their bodies, all the loudest voices feel like they don't have any real control over their lives. The forums are an area where they have the power to assert control and to bring order to their lives, which is why they are so eager to create and enforce rules that will silence all the noise that they don't want to hear.

Pop psychology bullshit but go look at all the ways poor people spite themselves to feel like they're in control and it's the same thing.

While FYAD actually pays for the majority of their reregs, avatars, etc, even having some goons(at least up to a few years ago that I still remember from the Sose threads about SA drama and dox) that would pay to rereg any banned fyad posters they liked. If anything, they probably pay for a much higher percentage of their reregs these days, as they seem to have much less mod support.
It all just adds on to how dumb and shortsighted Lowtax has been to keep siding with the troons. He seems determined, though, to remain in his extremely abusive relationship with his many troon dom-daddies. Very sad to see this cycle continue :^(
