Super Smash Bros.

What's been going on? Currently regretting buying it Digital because I'm kinda done with Ultimate.

World of Spirits, or Light, or whatever is just too boring and far different from Subspace Emissary. I know Brawl and its Story mode was harshly recieved by critics but I got used to it. And I get stuck too often. And i cant even figure out how Spirits work.

I haven't played Ultimate yet (have the game but not the system) but I feel like this is one of those moments where I should say "goddamn it @TrippinKahlua".

How different is one from the other, gameplay-wise?

Subspace Emissary is the world's blandest Kirby game
World of Light is just a seemingly endless series of fights with obnoxious special conditions

SSE is a clone of Kirby's gameplay with occasional Smash fights.

World of Light is essentially the events mode from Brawl and Melee but themed around the character you fight. It also has an RPG upgrading and leveling system. Early game is a neat experience to level up your stuff and unlock new abilities, and late-game is an experiment in making the most broken builds possible, so it's generally fun all around. It doesn't have any cutscenes like SSE but it's the most fun story mode yet. Your enjoyment may vary depending on how much time you want to invest playing through it and experimenting.

Unfortunately, if you don't want to play WoL, you still need to beat it if you want to customize the menu music.

Dude, just...equip a primary spirit, then some secondaries. The game tells you if your primary is weak or strong against the spirit you'll be battling. If there are special battle conditions, equip a secondary that reduces or neutralizes the effects of the condition, like if the stage will randomly flip, or if the floor is on fire. If it's really still too hard for you, then swap over to the easiest difficulty, the game will let you do that at any time. They even added game journalist easy and you can still unlock shit on it.

Beyond smoothing it out a little? Basically not too much, but that doesn't stop Melee fags from refusing to play any other version. Not that they'd play any of the newer characters anyways.

The game literally has an auto equip button that just equips you with appropriate spirits

Maintenance for some games is happening on the 8th, which is the date a lot of people are predicting a Direct might happen.

Assuming Nintendo actually sticks to their "Season pass will be done in a year" they're actually running out of time at this point, I don't know what's taking them so long to reveal the final fighter for the first pass. At the least maybe this means the fighter will be released the day of the reveal.

Weren't they aiming for a January 2020 release for the last fighter?

I would guess that they're trying to what they can do/reveal to keep the hype train running at the end of Fighter Pass 1.

I would also guess that they're trying to do a Fighter Pass 1, Fighter 5 and potentially a Fighter Pass 2, Fighter 1 reveal in the same direct to keep the momentum going, but they could also reveal a new game mode/other DLC/etc as well - either way they're likely trying to very careful for this reveal, as it's going to be a transition no matter what.

Was gonna say they'll most likely reveal the next fighter in the coming direct (I assume a week or two) and either have the character playable after it's finished or within a week after.

I believe they said it would end in Feb so there should be time for them to advertise and do their thing before Feb or at the beginning.

I don't think we'll have a new mode since Sakurai said Home Run Contest was the last new mode they would add with Terry.

This last character will probably be the coup de grace for the pass and I assume will be a third party one that would shock people. Then the lead in for Fighter pass 2 will be more of what we can expect from Nintendo.

I hope it's a female but I can't think of any Nintendo characters that could fit.
All the Fighter Pass 1 characters to date have all been third party characters in franchises new to Smash, so chances are the fifth character won't be a strictly Nintendo one. Nor does it have to be family friendly since there's multiple M-rated characters.
