You Know What Grinds My Gears? - Things that personally piss you off

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
"You are using an outdated browser" messages disabling the site instead of at least letting the site try and work anyway - especially when the site does work. Not everyone can afford to keep up with tech that becomes outdated in less than 5 years.

Speaking of which, computer bullshit is pretty infuriating in general. Especially error messages. They're all like, "Oh you wanted to do that? Here's some bullshit instead. Deal with it."

This is why making stuff computerized that doesn't need to be is a really bad idea. Like with this "Internet Of Things" crap.

People who have discords yet refuse to actually use them in favor of twitter. Like, nigga if yopu prefer to live on twitter all day why even have a discord?

Journalists are terrible, we can all agree on that blah blah nothing of worth to say Articles and Happenings etc.

What really gets me is writing anessay and finding an interesting statistic you can use for it but the Journalist doesn’t link to the fucking study. It might as well not exist then because my superiors aren’t gonna trust your stupid opinion piece writing ass and neither will I.

White trash. I hate all kinds of hood rats and self-depreciating mongs, but white trailer trash methheads have always been the ones to ruin my day.
I will say as deplorable as they can be, hood rats are probably the most fun type of trashy people to be around. They’re generally only really a nuisance because they seem to compulsively commit petty crimes without a hint of logical thought, but aside from that they’re pretty funny.

Meth heads are just a fucking chore to be around. Having to worry if some toothless scrawny fuckface is going to start screeching and try to rip your spine out Mortal Kombat style because the 12 packs of Pepsi weren’t on sale anymore was probably my least favorite thing when I was working in retail.

In a similar vein, sites who pop up a "We see you're using an ad blocker. Please disable it for our site, k, plsthx," message.

Why should anyone want to enable ads from a site, especially one that shouldn't be relying on ad revenue anyways? Messages like that almost ensure those sites keep having their ads blocked.

Similarly, sites that won't let you browse anything with an ad-blocker enabled, or have the initial denial easily defeated by a simple page refresh.

Let's not forget those applications with cryptic error messages such as, Error 86-xz15: Unable to perform operation. Those are so generic that nobody has an idea of what caused it, how to avoid it, or how to recover from it -- not even techies. Bonus points if there is no way to even look up the error whether by manual, online help, or some sort of support mechanism.

One might argue that adding internet connectivity to automobiles, between console displays and entertainment stations, has actually helped contribute to distracted driving.

Other stuff having internet connectivity as part of the overall IoT push is equally pointless. Nobody needs internet-aware waffle irons or cleaning brushes, yet someone somewhere thinks stuff like that are must-haves in the internet age. Funny how IoT stuff appears to be less reliable and breaks down more than the non-IoT counterparts.

Current peeve: Mobile phone carriers that offer deals on new or upgraded phones, but only if the user upgrades to a more expensive plan than what they currently have and agree to online-only billing or other gotchas to save what ends up being a negligible amount on a phone that will be deemed obsolete once the 30-month payment plan is complete.

Customers (girls and Karens in particular) who are more focused on their pointless phone conversations than being indecisive about their food orders and moving on. How hard is it to politely tell your friend "I'll call you back" and not hold up the line, nor make me lose focus on punching in your custom pizza toppings and sides? Shut the fuck up and hang the fuck up.

Fetishization of victimhood is something that amongst other many things is making my blood boil. What the fuck happened to just not being a whiny cry baby with perpetual victim syndrome who's walking through life looking for things to be offended by. Everybodys got their shit to deal with it, whether youre white or black or gay or straight or trans etc. Nothing wrong with admitting that some groups have had it easier than others but I know people whos entire life is about being a fucking victim and a SJW.

Might be a minor/weird thing that pisses me off, but people who just can't sneeze and be done with it that have to do that whole overdramatic, deliberately loud as all hell, look at me! look at me! cartoony "AAAAAAHHHHH CHOOOOOO!!!"

Seriously gets on my fucking nerves.

Okay, so this goes back a while. In May 2019, I got married to my husband. As far back as November 2018, we were promised an apartment in the complex my family owns. We were told by the owners that the most we would have to wait would be three months after the wedding. Well, when I got married, an apartment hadn’t opened yet, so me and my husband have had to wait. It is now January 2020, and still no sign of anyone moving out. To make matters worse, there are a few people still living in the complex, making way more than what they are paying for (the apartments are meant for people starting out). Since then, there has been very little space for me and my husband to call our own. On top of that, most of the people overstaying their welcome are other family members.

Another; people who act like any other opinion or view point is inherently evil, especially those that will deny any evidence to the contrary and those that will close down debate for wrong think. The trans lobby is big on telling you that your science knowledge only goes to grade 6 and you don't know jack even when it is a scientist speaking. The anti capitalists who deny any good has come out of it yet all the evidence shows it has been a force for good but show them stats and evidence and they will shout you down and call you a lier. There are loads of examples of this from fundie Christians who use circular logic of the Bible tells me so its true, racists who can not accept a black doctor is more intelligent than them or anti racists that are racist themselves and give out false reasons why you can't be towards whites etc.

So in a few words: sophistry, duplicity, and hypocrisy. It also grinds my gears, even though I'm guilty of all of them on occasion.

Back on topic, another thing that really puckers my anus are drivers that ride your ass during bad weather. I get that you may be late for something and want to go 5 or 10 mph above the speed limit, but if I have maybe 100ft of visibility I'm not going over the limit. If you want to go faster just pass me, don't ride my ass for 10 miles on the fucking interstate during a winter storm.

The homeless. And I feel really bad about this since I've been in that position but was luckier than a lot of people. But good God please stop harassing people inside of stores!

So I live in Philly, which is probably right up there with NYC in terms of worst places to be homeless. It's really bad and there is just nowhere to put these people and there isn't enough low income permanant housing available. Everyone I talk to says that the shelters are scarier than being on the streets so they just stay on the streets.

Where I am now you can't even go shop without being harassed. Bums are camped outside of Walgreens and 7-11 begging for change or for you to buy them something. They will come into the store and ask you to buy them food or tell you they need money for a prescription. Sure.

Some of them wander into Walgreens and actually ask the pharmacist for opioids. One lady had to be escorted out by security because she was screaming that she was an undercover cop and they had to give her oxycontin for a case she was working on. :cringe:

They took the chairs out of Dunkin Donuts to deter bums from hanging in there. We can't even have chairs. But it doesn't stop them. There's a ledge on the inside that they sit on and there is a ledge outside too. They only move if the police come and tell them too.

So I go in Dunkin Donuts today and a lady on the inside ledge asks me for change. Then as I am paying for my coffee a man comes up to me and sasks me to buy him a container of munchkins because he hasn't eaten all day. I snapped at him and now I feel bad because I probably shouldn't have. But he actually stayed in line behind another person so I assume he was gonna ask that customer and maybe even the employees. It wouldn't be the first time someone came right up to the counter and asked for food.

But what bothers me is that the employees do nothing about any of this. They just let people hang out there and harass customers for food or money. Maybe they realise it's a losing battle and gave up. Or they are afraid of confrontations they aren't equipped to handle.

I don't really want to go there anymore.

At least 7-11 has been pretty bum free lately. But I did see an interesting thing written on the Amazon locker.

No more $40 Kareema. Get help

Someone must have decided enough was enough and Kareema was using that $40 to get high. I guess they just wrote the message at Kareema's haunt.

People's fetishization of victimhood has really downplayed the actual meaning of "harassment" and "abuse" online. You can say the dumbest shit imaginable and still have masses of fellow dumbasses defend you if you frame the people who rightfully call you out on your bullshit as "trolls".

We really should vet these brain dead kids before we let them run their fucking mouth online.
