I couldn't begin to guess, but considering the source, it was probably some really stupid thing SJ did. Do you have to re-enroll every year for private insurance? Maybe she forgot or doesn't realize that her deductible resets every year and she still has to pay for stuff even with insurance. That said, I know very little about private insurance, so take anything i say about it with a pound of salt.
Well that’s downright horrifying. I know dozens of Chiari patients who have never needed brain surgery. It’s only indicated if herniation has both progressed to limit cerebral spinal fluid flow and symptoms are problematic. Also, that’s NOT a decompression surgery. That’s a fusion of C0-2. If you had Chiari alone, why would you have a fusion? And that type of fusion with what looks like posterior pedical screw fixation without removal of disks is pretty much guaranteeing a repeat surgery. I’m officially horrified.Given her awful spelling I'm going to "humane" is Humana. Humana is either military or Medicare. Usually with Medicare you have re enroll or pay x amount before coverage. Doctors office verify coverage for prior authorization for diagnostic imaging and medications. Looks like she is out luck, you can enroll again until open enrollment or life event.
I think this image is a Henderson patient. I'm guessing intraoperative fluroscope.

Also, who does this because it "was found by accident". Chiari is actually pretty common, most are incidental findings. You had no symptoms and it isn't going to kill you? Yup, sticking a bunch of hardware in there sounds like a good idea.

So... signing an NDA isnt exactly normal for surgeons or specialists, is it?
He got another doctor "cancelled," in fact, went after his academic career. You know, a doctor who stood up for patients, even a tiny bit.Actually, know who he reminds me of?
That one doctor who was giving people synthetic trachea with stem cells and murdered like 8 people via medical malpractice. He got away with it too (not being convicted and rotting in jail), as they tend to.
My thoughts living in her state an dealing with people like her? She is now restricted meaning 1 doctor is in charge of all referrals and treatment and 1 pharmacy can fill her prescriptions. Over utilization is a reason this happens.

Also living here, I have also seen this happen to people, usually due to the amount of pain medication they are receiving. My thoughts living in her state an dealing with people like her? If she lost her insurance not making payments on time or her being on medicaid and losing it after not reporting income seems something like SJ would do . Whatever the case is I love that she is taking it so seriously.

If the upright MRI did show genuine spondylolisthesis, then at least that would be one thing that people could agree on. But that's not what is being used for diagnosis - it's weird stuff like measuring angles and distances (several of these measures have actually been discredited for over a decade).
Would love to see someone without EDS and issues go to him and report on what he said. Any doctor who claims that others are quacks/uneducated but won’t release their “research” to educate other doctors rings all of my alarm bells.
I dunno, you know how she likes to leave hospice for a few days to visit family and get sicker, especially during holidays. Maybe her latest bender was too much and she is just hungover. Or in isolation with flesh eating superbugs.Sad face kiwi Paige is MIA for 5 days. Was someone's death pool of Jan 2nd right?
To give Henderson some credit, he does actually write quite a bit in the scientific literature and he has published his criteria for operating in a peer-reviewed journal. He does actually turn people away when they test negative according to his criteria (which isn't often, but does happen). Most neurosurgeons regard his criteria as BS, and there are studies discrediting some of his criteria as too unreliable.yes!! I would also love this. There is someone on IFGW that WKs henderson (of course she has a neck fusion) and says that he won’t slice anyone open because she has a “friend” that was turned down. I’m convinced he will fuse anything’s spine as long as it has a pulse.
I'm sure there would be some kind of memorial up for her on her friends SM if she had died. Can anyone remember what goose girl's Instagram was under?Sad face kiwi Paige is MIA for 5 days. Was someone's death pool of Jan 2nd right?
So yes and no. Upright MRIs are not bullshit but the problem is that they haven’t been around long enough to have tons of clinical trials done and training. 3-5 mm is the definition of anteloaxial instability depending on whether it is a child or adult. But the rub is that this should be able to be clearly seen on plain flexion and extension radiograph and shouldn’t need any special weighting with neck turned like Henderson does. We are talking about real conditions with real symptoms. Is it likely that people with EDS experience some symptoms under some circumstances from their neck vertebra slipping that cause symptoms at times? Absolutely. Should we put all of them through brain and spine surgery? Hell no. Measurements matter less than symptoms. If a person can walk and talk, they likely do NOT need this type of surgery. Again, going back to my earlier post, neurological deficit should be the only reason to consider this type of surgery because it is invasive, painful, and outcome is risky. But again, chances are, if there is persistent neurological deficit, a good radiologist will see it on MRI.I knew these MRIs were bullshit but when I saw a munchie post their actual measurements I was shocked. Most of them are vague and say “it’s the worst he’s ever seen” but it’s measured in mm which, I know, can really matter in neurosurgery but when you say you’re in danger of becoming “internally decapitated” I don’t think 2-3mm is making that much of a difference???
