Honestly I feel like Jim is just getting burned out. When you talk about weirdos on the Internet and the morbid realities of the world everyday then by that point you'll just start to feel burnout and want to talk about other things just to take you mind off the things that are too depressing and morbid.

Well I pretty much grew up with anime (and I still like it) but I think Jim is just doing what every content creator with good optics does in order to stay relevant.

Take DigiBro as an example. To my knowledge, he used to be some MLP reviewer; that is when he dumped MLP for anime. Now say what you want about DigiBro but in retrospect it was really smart for him to move on from a show about magic horses for girls (because some televison show isn't going to last forever) to a form of media that is very diverse in its content and he can make plenty of money talking about the latest popular anime too and that's why DigiBro is even still around anymore.

So this is what Jim probably wants to do now. You can only appeal to people from /pol/ and /r9k/ for so long so the smart thing to do now is to do other content and in this case it's Jim talking about anime now because it makes a lot of sense to talk about anime as a lot of people like that more than they talk about politics and world events in general.

This new shift in content will probably make his alt-right fans stop watching him but he doesn't really need them that much for cash since there are other markets that he can touch to still make money.
