If you read the new youtube ToS you would know that Jim would be backed against the wall if he puts out even tame content by his own standards. Every stream he does is a risk to get sniped by Susan, look what happened to Ralph. I think he is banking on bitchute to implement streaming for him with an easy payment plan associated with it. Until that happens expect more basic stuff that is ToS compliant because its all about being able to cash out them superchats. Unless I'm not privy to some old Jim lore the animu shit is fairly recent, I only recall him talking about it offhand over the last few months and am quite surprised it ended up being a legitimate shift of content for him.

He's been saying "I am a weeb" on other people's streams and his own for a while, but aside from old profile information and soliloquys on galactic heroes, he hasn't really been inclined to prove it. I may be shuffling current statements into memory, but I think he's also mentioned that people will probably think his anime taste is shit.
