Never quite understood why Labelle even bothered asking for money for a new tablet if he wasn't gonna change his art style in the least. I seriously don't see even a minute difference, does anyone else? I'm no Pablo Picasso but I'm pretty sure I could replicate this style if you give me a couple hours and a shitty $200 Wacom from 2012. Every character has the exact same proportions.

Labelle is also one of those people that seems to think that having the more expensive equipment adds value to their work (and possibly could even improve it, although that's just speculation from previous comments on my part), once commenting that no one with an audience the size of AM's could work with a cheap wacom bamboo tablet.

Long time readers of this thread may remember me posting a pic of my own tablet of that era (a cheap wacom bamboo tablet) which I used professionally on products and IP's with 1000x the viewers of Labelle's.
I say this only because I worry about aspiring artists seeing Labelle's post and thinking that if they can't afford that kind of gear they'll never be any good, to which I'll always always always remind them as many times as it takes that more can be done with a pen, single sheet of paper and the will to improve than with any fancy gear.

I'm not the best artist or anything, but goddamn, it's hard enough to get by in this field without people setting up fake obstacles.

You're right but not entirely. Tools don't make the artist, but good tools can help a good artist's visions become reality a little better and faster. You are right about creating stunning digital pieces with a cheap Wacom Bamboo, but I know artists who used bamboos and got enough scratch and practice to get a cintiq (Like THE BIG Cintiqs!) and it increased their workflow phenomenally. It's not a bad thing or a spoiled brat thing, it's an evolution. But for the likes of LaBelle (and previously TIm Buckley), they want to evolve without working and waiting for it. THAT'S the bad/spoiled brat thing. So they scam their fool followers to part with their money to get them the fancy tablets only to not improve, but worsen. Buckley copy/pasted his comics and LaBelle's colors and lines are smoother but that's it.

If anybody compares Soapy's old art to her new ones and still thinks that's the magic of a Cintiq, pray they go to an art museum or something and get a real art awakening.

IIRC, she bought the $3000 MobileStudio Pro, the most NOTORIOUS Wacom product for breaking down and needing repairs. I wouldn't be surprised if her tablet broke and needed to be sent in to get repairs. Hence the reposts and news sperging lately. All that glitters is not gold.
