I have a question for readers of this thread: do you think my posts are easier to read if I post the screenshot at full res (but sized down) or if I post them as thumbnails? My principle is to make reading the thread as hassle-free as possible, so I used to post full res images, so people can simply go through my posts without having to click on anything, but I wonder if that might cause trouble for people who prefer not to scroll down a mile.

Does having to click on each thumbnail interrupt you reading too much (especially since I often have lots of them)? Or would you rather scroll past the thread faster (again, especially since I have lots of screencaps)? I need opinions.

What I wouldn’t give to read a file of honest referral letters on Rhys.

They'd probably be pretty dull. At least if you mean by "honest" simply that they convey that they don't like Rhys much. There are a lot of non-actionable ways to give a "recommendation" that screams "DO NOT HIRE." It's more in how tepid the delivery is, what isn't said, and if they have anything worse to say they may invite a phone call.

Observing Rhys and his ilk has left me so fucking confused about Philosophy. I knew nothing about it's current state in academia, so this crap has been my only exposure to it, and it just seems like an elitist, woke circlejerk where only the most privileged and close-minded "work". The letter of recommendations thing is another thing where Rhys is sorta technically right but not for the reason he thinks and he's way too obsessed with it. It is a vestige in academia because they already know who your department people were. But it can still serve a purpose.

Notice what he lists "CV, writing sample, interview, campus visit. ... Maybe teaching eval summary" it's the latter of these, and what a letter of recommendation would say or rather not say that Rhys especially hates as we know.

It's already pretty tough to not be able to get a letter of recommendation anyway, it'd be like if you just needed two random human beings to say they listened to you give a speech but you can't find a single one on Earth so you take an F. Well, at least Rhys can ask one of his department frie... oh.

Seriously though, if he had any colleagues who didn't despise him and he needed a letter of recommendation, he could just pop by and mention it, they'd ask him to jot down a few bullet points and they'd form letter it and maybe add something they can think of that's good about the person. Then whoever gets it is going to skim it and set it aside unless they need to decide between candidates and they're investigating further. The letter is basically a first level check to see if you can do something simple like talk to another human.

What I find interesting is that the fox logo is not even related to sports, except in that it seems to be Rhys' personal logo for biking. A more general logo (not Rhys specific) would feature something sports-related, like a soccer ball. This isn't about making sports more accessible for people in general - it's about Rhys' personal desire to participate in sports without having to compete with men (who would leave him in the dust). It's not about making sports more accessible for, say, underprivileged kids who can't afford it. No, that would at least make life nicer for someone. It's a 100% selfish campaign based on Rhys' desire to compete against women, despite being male.
