Xbox Ambassador Program: How not to Promote Online Gaming - MS has joined the EXCLUSIVITY crowd

worst consoles have to deal with is downloading a fuckhueg day1 patch, pc you have to deal with denuvo, timed unlocks, multiple accounts, hoping they put some effort into the port (no sony/microsoft to chew them out), good chance of cheaters online and general compatibility issues where a publisher went full exceptional individual. my recent favorite is ubisoft with starlink. not only do you have to run it as full admin (elevated doesn't work, it outright doesn't start), you also have to disable virtualizion in the bios - which the game never tells you if you start it normally via uplay, you have to start it manually from the folder to get the error message.

I prefer pc too, but I can understand if someone doesn't want to deal with that horseshit.

It's all worth for it enhanced fidelity and framerate, but hey, I guess that's just a matter of personal preference.

As for Xbox Live, it's been coming up on a decade if not over a decade since I've played on XBL myself, but in my experience the idea of people trash talking was overblown, I didn't encounter nearly as much of it as I expected.

In fact I have a lot of good memories of having fun or interesting conversations with people, granted we are talking the 2000s.

But even if someone does call you a "faggot' over a headset mic who honestly gives a shit? Do you not have actual things to worry about in your life?

eh, it's not that more expensive in the long run, but it can be a hassle, especially if you want to play the newest AAA shit at release. but during a console generation there's zero point to upgrade if stuff already runs to your liking.
why not a ps4 tho?

PSN sucks for an online service. XBL plus the XBox Gaming pass allows me to play shitloads of games with friends. I don't do JRPG's anymore as I don't have time for the goddamn grind anymore hence no reason to use my PS4Pro and I won't be buying a PS5 and pickup the XBSXLGBT++(whatever bullshit theyare calling it) when it comes out .

it is, but I'm seriously getting to old to deal with all the retarded shit windows and crap publishers want to put me through. if I want to play a game I don't want to spend an hour trying to figure out why the fuck a game doesn't work - latest case: origin/anthem not liking VPNs, which means even when I know the cause, I still have to fuck around every time compared to just putting in the disc.
fidelity and framerate doesn't mean much if the game doesn't want to start.

EDIT: ofc it's easy to say "don't play shit games from shit publishers on a shit os", but that's not really an argument pro pc, considering most of their AAA stuff doesn't work outside, isn't interesting for me or being masterrace has no advantages (indie platformer capped at 30 fps looks exactly the same).

I can't exactly be shocked that a company doesn't want their "ambassadors" calling everyone a niggerfaggot on voice comms. I'd be more surprised if any given company didn't have some acceptable use policy in place for such people.

I prefer buying a system, and updating it every few months and being able to play on it for years, as opposed to having to switch parts out and download various programs to play various games then mess with the settings. Give me convenience over a slightly better frame rate and graphics any day.

To be fair though it helps that I'd rather feed my own testicles to a pack of rabid dogs than play an online game.

It's cheaper than buying a PC every 2-3 years, getting a video card, fucking with windows shit drivers

where do people keep coming up with this. a good PC will last you about a decade, they're designed to be powerful workhouses and not designed with planned obsolescence like consoles are. a PC will especially last you a decade because consoles use the equivalent of decade-old hardware so developers have to design their games to work on whatever the lowest common denominator of the market is at any given generation, so even modern potato PCs can usually run the latest-gen stuff. and Windows has automatic driver detection and installation now, you don't even have to click anything.

I like consoles, but, uh, you're fucking stupid lol

Nonsense, computer has been going on for 10 years strong now, and you know what i've been doing to make sure it keeps running? I've been slowly upgrading parts over time when I have the spare cash. I don't even buy the latest gen parts, but rather the last gen parts that were workhorses because they're cheaper, and generally good enough to run modern games on a medium-high setting. While an Xbox one X will cost you around 500 USD, that is more than enough to get together the parts for a decent PC which can be easily upgraded overtime. Unless you have a massive dramatic failure you'll only need to replace/upgrade one part at a time which is actually cheaper in the long run than buying the newest version of a console that comes out.

That's been true for about a decade, but nobody was using the computer they built for Doom 3 by 2014. It's just an old stigma.

Then again, if you stick to cheapo video cards, you won't get nearly as much mileage out of them than if you cough up for at least mid-high range, making the pricier ones ironically cheaper in the long run.

This just makes me think of the Microsoft rewards program of old, when they gave Xbox 360 users a "sweet surprise" on their birthday:

For reference, this is the equivalent to 25 cents.

I respect Microsoft as a company now especially since Phil Spencer is trying to bring it back to it's core it was back when the original Xbox launched. But ever since they double dipped into both Xbox and Windows having a One just feels pointless if you already have a 360. Granted PC gaming has it's problems with Denuvo, but the modding community covers your ass in most cases or fixes games like Tales of Symphonia where the framerate is raw ass.

In this current gen I'd say the three systems to have are a PC, PS4, and Switch, just to experience all the games you can for the widest majority. But again with Microsoft making moves with Indies, more supporting Japanese games (PSO2 BAYBEEEE), and a more transparent look on their business (Phil Spencer having interviews is amazing btw), they are becoming the more gamer minded first party.

I do think there is a huge fucking irony in Microsoft making a statement about the program, when they were the ones who made shit talking the norm through Xbox live.
