This was always for nothing. Catering to the troons is what damaged his patreon so hard, especially after closing FYAD. He gained nothing but more complaints from the idiots he tried reasoning with, when he never needed to reason with them in the first place.

It would be trivial to do this. Just make sure the user agent isn't something wierd and that there's a suitabl;e delay between forumids (5 seconds shouldn't be too long. After all, the most recent ID was 666)

It was posted about a month before Choochacacko quit. That's around when he would have been negotiating payment with Lowtax. I found it interesting because I don't recall him ever mentioning problems with the management. He just stopped posting one day without any statement.

Following a seemingly serious statement with an irreverent joke is common with a lot of goons, including Lowtax himself. I guess it's supposed to make it look like that they aren't mad or that it's not actually serious.

Why do I suspect this is more because they wouldn't be able to run the show there like they can at SA? This isn't about them being able to say what they want or being safe, it's about control and it's obvious to anybody that has watched this whole situation develop over the years.

He actively posted about SA's software and hardware, and the changes that he was making. He posted a lot in YOSPOS. One of the things he did was reduce the number of servers that the forum needed. He was especially critical of Radium. Radium's solution to the forum being slow was to add more servers. There was an entire server hooked up that didn't even do anything. Radium would also make changes directly on the live forum.

One day he just stopped posting and no more updates were made. One of the admins said that he quit over being payed. I seem to remember that Lowtax was paying him, but didn't want to keep paying.

If I remember the Chooch drama correctly (and probably fucking up parts because I'd completely memoryholed it till you refired the neurons):
Chooch was paid some amount of money to fix & un-radium the forum. Maybe he's the one who made SA's infra no suck ass. Who knows.

Anyway, what brought this on was SA's physical hardware was old, gay, and dying and they'd lost one server already (which Chooch replaced with the server doing nothing I think?) and replacing the whole physical stack was going to be something like a million dollars or whatever figure Lowtax quoted. The forums were having real performance issues around 2010? 2011? partly thanks to all the Danga Rompa traffic. Chooch convinced Lowtax to pay him to fix the forum.

Chooch went through and fixed the immediate issue, and I believe later got all the servers virtualized (slashing SA's hosting bill) and did updates and shit. Chooch had then exhausted his contractor bucks, did a few more minor tweaks basically for free; I believe Chooch was unhappy with the rate and such he'd negotiated with Lowtax, as he really underestimated the work involved. He thought it was going to be an evenings-and-weekends thing, but it turned into fulltime crisis that Chooch got ironed out.
There was some post I think where Chooch melted down about how completely fucked Radium's set up was, like the database servers all maintaining their own full copies of the database on local storage as there was no SAN*.

He then told 'Tax "Look, this place is fucked up enough you need full time technical staff, you need someone able to jump on alerts as they happen, not just someone working off hours when they feel like it. This is my rate,plus a bonus for underestimating how fucked up things were before. No, I won't do it for free if you make me an Admin. I need to be paid in money, not e-cred".
Well, saying he "told" Lowtax is inaccurate. I should say he informed the forums that he'd sent emails and IMs to lowtax about that with no response.
Because by this time the crisis was over. The servers were off their ancient hardware, the forums were up and performing better than ever, and the large colo bill was slashed. His income, and thus access to ambien, once again safe, Lowtax had gone back to ambien-induced sleep.

There was some sort of announcement about Chooch, or one of Chooches friends mentioned it, because everyone was asking "Where's Chooch?" where all this came out (edit: I think it was one of the admins, maybe Ozma(fat), because I think people were bitching about Chooch who had seemingly vanished and forums were being slow) and Lowtax stumbled back in "Oh gee who knows, but forums work now, so buy avatars and moofwear so I can keep paying the server bills".

(I think some of this stuff about pay came out when the Ad Guy came to Something Sensitive)

Yeah, I'm calling Poe on this one too. It's hard to put your finger on exactly how it's different from their usual tales of heroism in the face of evil, but I think it's the framing of their own actions. They'll never describe anything they do like it's dramatic in the least. Every action they would take is treated as 100% calm, rational, and reasonable; what any em-pathetic human being with any common decency would do. Talking about manning up to face their reflection like they're off to fight a dragon doesn't mesh with that.
