Don't feel too bad about it. I doubt it would have failed spectacularly enough to be that entertaining. It just would have been a small, crappy con nowhere in particular. It had neither the momentum, nor the ambition to be a spectacular dumpster fire like Dash Con or Fan Con.

Shoudaku Con is supposedly only being postponed to later in the year, so there's still a chance it might happen. I think we all know he's just saying that to save face, but on the off chance that he isn't, interest is going to be even lower than it would have been originally. I doubt many in the con scene will want to associate with him after his spat with Jinnie, who has been cozying up to law twitter.

His best hope is for Vic to win his appeal so his buddies online stay engaged with what he's doing.

It isn't just that, but you have to consider the trust factor too. When people are planning to go to a convention, they might look into hotel booking, travel plans, planning vacation time from work/school(and may be unable to always do that), cancelling/forgoing other plans that might have been around that time, and that is simply the con attendees. The guest have to consider other con options in addition to the above and all that can be shot from that con being cancelled, thus requiring a lot of last minute changes and withdraws(in which some cases, there might be a charge fee). He will be lucky to get a decent amount of locals if he does try again.

As much as it's kind of perverse to have a spite con, you can be sure people will actually be in town at a competing convention and you'll get at least some fraction of crossover visitors showing up at least for a little while. Nobody is showing up out of town for just Groomer Con.

Cancelling/postponing indefinitely a first-time convention is basically a death sentence.

If he did bring it back, he'd have to do it under a new name or he'd have to do it YEARS later. Unless you have had someone significant in the staff die, there's really no excuse at all to "indefinitely postpone" an event. In the very least, you have several dates planned for your event ahead of time (Shane should know this) and you change the date as an absolute last resort.

I am gonna press X that Shane actually ever had intentions of seeing this through.

This sounds like a joke, but also sounds like something so laughably possible and I don't know which. Like others, I'm disappointed that he aborted this early, I was hoping to at least get down to the month before. As far as the difficulties trying to restart, I don't think that's an issue. You don't really need to worry about losing trust or dealing with complaints from people who need to readjust reservations and travel plans when you don't have any people committed. I also like how he claimed that the only thing that would've been better than going up against a Kopf con would've been going up against Matsuri. OK ass-hat, quit being a blowhard, I'm sure Matsuri will announce their dates shortly after this year's show, if you're chomping at the bit to go head to head with a con that sees 10s of thousands of attendees, put your money where your mouth is and pony up. I'm sure your ego crusade will be just as impactful as the boycott that's been going on for years now(?)

The Kopf con didn't scare him because no one starting a con in Texas would've been scared of losing people to a con in Minneapolis. Although, small props for being stupid enough to try the AKon weekend gambit, that was a fair bit of narcissism there.

Why? She's literally done worse than Vic is even accused of doing, and on video, publicly assaulting an unwilling underage girl in front of a crowd.

Shane is a tool. A means to an end. Manjaw honestly believes that her crusade will clean up the industry. And like any zealot, ends justify the means.

Shane would be backstabbed and left for the wolves at some point down the line after Manjaw found someone with more authority she could misappropriate.
