This might be a stupid question but is it possible for an account to get close to that just by grinding and playing it a fuckton?
Not possible when there's a pay to win option. You just can't compete without spending similar amounts of money to those you are trying to beat. I've played multiple F2P games with guild PVP and its all the same. They almost always have a subscription based VIP status, premium currencies that are required to get anything top tier, boosters you can buy (always temporary, requires subscription usually) to help boost you or your entire guild. Anything card based always seems to have the pull pools that require spending currency with every attempt. (and of course the good stuff has a drop rate of 1% or less)

What's really fucked up is that a lot of times, there are no regional restrictions. Meaning you could be forced to compete with a bunch of russian guilds who spend 1/10th the money you do to get the same results.

Maybe I've been spoiled by Team Fortress 2 but the idea of spending money on a F2P game where you can't even sell the items when you're done...that's fucking insane. Why would you do that... In Team Fortress 2, you can break even or even come out ahead by selling your stuff when you're done.

Future advice, give them to tons of people privately and don't advertise why. Then release the info. It will be a ton of manual work to go kick everyone you invited out and they might not bother.

If we're doing advice, when contacting someone, keep it polite and light. There's a saying that you catch more flies with honey than vinegar. Basically, if you start out acting like a tardraging sperg, people are unlikely to talk. Go in softer and you can establish a report that makes them more willing (usually) to listen.

So if Dark is using discord to manage his mod chat, surely his mods know what his discord handle is...
That's a great point. Basically the mods know the answer to this one. I don't want to spoil or promise anything upfront, but I can vouch from a good source that DSP apparently does have a mod Discord, and I assume Phil must also have an account to communicate with his mods on there. Perhaps more on that later. I also want to point out that all TheyCallMeDSP#4058 has to do is have a short conversation with one of us during when Phil is streaming to rule him out. I can't know if he really was bombarded with assholes that has led him to feel like he's being harassed and thusly has no desire to co-operate with our reasonable request. Then again, who can truly understand the mind of someone who would dump so much money into these games, maybe that's typical behavior from that personality type.

Now I want to share some useful tools for saving Discord conversations and displaying normally hidden elements that can be helpful for our purposes.
Discord Chat Exporter is a cross-platform piece of software that allows you to export Discord DMs and channels to HTML, CSV, and TXT format easily. If there are thousands of messages, you have the option to partition the download to export by date or number of messages. I recommend downloading what you need as TXT first, and then HTML. Warning: if you download the HTML and open in a browser, the media will not load for anyone but the person logged into Discord who created the HTML file. It's advised for that person to open the HTML file in a broswer, load all the media, then save the complete webpage which will create a media folder. Then you can zip the HTML file with the media folder contents together.

Bandaged Better Discord is a cross-platform mod that allows you to enhance Discord with plugins. Some of these plugins are very useful. See attachment for a zipped folder containing all plugin files mentioned here.
  • GuildData shows you hidden stats about a Discord group (otherwise known as a Guild or Server), such as exactly when it was created, what user created it, the general region from where the creator is located in, how many group roles (permissions) there are, and a list of all the channels including those that are hidden from you. But it also allows you to export a complete list of all the members in the group in a TXT document, as well as an option to export all the custom emotes if there are any. DetailedServerTooltips is another plugin that displays much of the same information when you hover above the group icon.
  • AvatarIconViewer allows you to view and download group and member profile images as well as emotes in their original resolution. This can be useful if you want to reverse-image-search.
  • MessageLogger doesn't remove deleted or edited messages, instead it still shows the original message in red. You can set it to notify you if messages are deleted or edited, and are provided a new button that opens a catalog of all the previous deleted and edited messages.
  • Word Notifications gives you a notification when custom words are mentioned.
  • FriendNotifications and StalkerNotifications alerts you when a friend or just a regular member changes online status.
  • RemoveNicknames shows all the members as their original username, not a custom nickname they may have chosen for that group.
  • CreationDate shows when a group or member account was created. JoinedAtDate shows when a member joined a group.
  • Guild And Friend Removal Alerts gives you a notification if a group or friend has been removed.
  • AccountSwitcher allows you to map a shortcut key to quickly switch between multiple Discord accounts if you have more than one. Warning: potential security risk here, be careful.
  • ShowImageDetails shows the resolution and file-size of media posted, ReverseImageSearch allows you to quickly reverse-image search media posted. OwnerTag adds a tag in the member's list to the person who created the group.
When you create a Discord account, you are assigned a four-digit discriminator ID from #0000 to #9999. In the case of this user, his username is TheyCallMeDSP#4058. It is not so easy to search for people on Discord if you do not know the discriminator number, as Discord times you out after 10 search attempts. It would be nice to have a script that auto-searches for you, but I'm not aware of one. For example, you could ask for it to search 'TheyCallMeDSP', and it begins with #0000 and works up spitting out any accounts it finds.

I used Discord Chat Exporter with Bandaged Better Discord to download the two DSP fan Discord groups that were ultimately taken over by detractors as examples, which you can download here.

There's suspicion that Discord is software intended on data-mining information you feed it, and it does not respect your privacy. I don't endorce it as your primary instant messenger. There's a fuck ton other IMs, none of them them are perfect, it's about finding the best compromise. See this webpage and this video. There's a lot of shady communities thriving on Discord. Record the evidence and don't hesitate to report disgusting shit you find. Refer to Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guideline pages for their rules.

Just in case they have no idea who Phil is, you should link the leader to the video of "the incident". They deserve to know that "the guy" is in their guild.

I think it's clear there is nothing more to gain, I don't want to bother them anymore, we had our laugh

Out of curiosity, how close is he to the people in his WWE Discord?

Are they his internet friends as in he "socilizes with them" or he just hangs out with them to talk about the game like brag about rolls, and not much else?

considering the guild leader knew something that wasn't posted in the discord, that's weird

where did dsp talk about his wife, unless there are hidden channels

I didn't know how long I would be on the server, I was there under the guise of being a "good player" and was told someone would interview me after I joined, if anyone asked a general question then I wouldn't know

I had no idea the discord invites would all be disabled when I left/got kicked from the server, either automatically or somehow manually, someone knew it was me creating invites so there must be some sort of log, even the invites I didn't make public were disabled

one thing is obvious, dsp ended stream and started damage control immediately

That's a great point. Basically the mods know the answer to this one.

pc discord tools blah blah

my biggest issue was trying to do this on mobile, I don't have a computer

IIRC, admins can see who made invites and who joined via invites.

That is correct. Pretty sure that a handful of people on there had access to the Server Settings and everything that you just mentioned is listed in the "Audit Logs".
It also includes deleted messages, channel updates, moving/muting users and what not.

Someone named Uselessness_TheyCallMeDSP got banned without explicitly mentioning the game by name. Quality troll.

"@darksydephil hey man, I was told we have the same name and decided to check out the stream!"

Why would he assume this wasn't the legitimate other guy who totally exists? Why would he be so rude to someone who just happens to share the same name?

I mean. . .unless there's some way he KNOWS that it isn't the real "other" DSP. But how could he know that?

I guess we really should have expected this. DSP has obviously been blowing money. That he is addicted to a mobile game he probably plays all night long when he stops streaming actually makes a lot of sense (he often looks completely strung out in his morning stream.) A lot of events line up with this, he probably did a bulk of the spending before Kat moved in. What if all the money we thought went to multiple flights and moving Kat in really went to 10k in mobile games? Perhaps his whale habits really started to spiral out of control around that time, especially with the cash flowing in.

Has anyone who knows this game calculated about how much it costs for a whale of Phil's level to play one event competitively? I'm wondering if any of these match up with "emergencies".
It seems to depend on the event. Here are some search results from the subreddit that mention event costs:

during the nwo event, 8th-11th of nov, costing 8k to get everything

this was during the huge meme where he had multiple new releases going that he begged for

I remember keht buying outer worlds for him, sonic v mario was an undisclosed review copy, and he was begging hard before and during this period

dragon quest was a hot topic where he was pushing for psn credit

the nwo wrestling mobile game event also seems to come a few weeks after he dressed up as yoshi for the halloween event and I think he announced his $1,800 "not for taxes" thing around this time, or was the $1800 meme during the halloween event, cbf looking into it

games he was playing, prob missed some:

WWE 2k

death stranding

Luigi's mansion

Outer Worlds

Sonic vs mario olympics

COD modern warfare

Plants vs zombies

Dragon Quest builders

I think he definitely spent some money on that event

The $1800 was prior to the Halloween event in Oct 2019. I also don't show anything special that I noted for Nov 8th-11th, but I don't generally mark things like him begging for games. He never hit his $200 "tip goal" on any of those days, though he did get close on a couple. Only stuff like when things like the $1800 "goal" started and ended and if there are large donations/hype train-type things. You could check his schedules (or maybe @Comma can access them quickly) to see if he was explicitly begging then.
