That's right! This is correct, and the last It/gay-related derail: They included gay people as both hero and victim in the film, and they were called homophobic. If they deleted the gay couple and Richie's possible closeted nature (the latter I don't recall being in the book), they would then be accused of gay erasure.
Back to the Something Awful situation, I believe the SA forum troons to be a far more extreme, mentally-ill flavor of LGBT+ folk. It's been stated in the thread numerous times these people are never satisfied. Just like the Pennywise situation, however I see the SA forum dialogue to be worse. Actually toxic, just as they accuse others of being.
Again, as stated quite a few times in this thread, the SA forums were a really unique and interesting place. You could certainly get deep into geek shit, but there was a wealth of information on what I once fondly called Grown Up Shit, as well as just interesting and entertaining nonsense. Interesting people would share their life experiences. The book recommendations I collected from the early '00s to the 10's alone made the $10 worth it. But now it's just "autistic screeching," an ableist slur sadly accurate. Just pedantic, often overly-verbose narcissistic nonsense.
This thread is a novel of particular value to former goons. The indescribable feeling of watching SA explode in slow motion... seeing Lowtax degrade himself on video for
less cash than one would spend on a real date, the type of thing Lowtax himself would've dunked on to rave reviews back in the day...
That last sentence sounds like I'm a Lowtax fanboy, so let me end by sharing some more Gay Pennywise:
