Shoudaku Con - Shane Holmberg's consent con has been cancelled

It was a spite convention in general. Shane believed that it was the time for a new era in the anime industry. He wanted to provide an alternative to the Anime Matsuri's while showing Akon that he was right.

He took on the world and got smacked down.
Probably going to go on a sperg out and beating my dead flaccid rotting horse to this, but man, do I want to laugh my ass off at Shane and his stupid convention. Only fucking out west with the mind chess fuckery of the most assend of weeaboos, and of the cream of the crop of the early 2000s born "moral elites" anime fans could come up with this rainbow puzzle pieced shit.

Honestly, are there conventions out in the motherland of all anime conventions, Japan, where they go as far as make fucking safespace undercover pedo rapist conventions that miss out on the whole anime bit of an anime convention? Only as something as decadent and indulgent as the shit end of US anime conventions can pull this right out of their ass and leave its mess for all of us to see.

Shane Holmberg, you're not only just a laughing stock, you're a historic figure of legendary feats within human stupidity and indulgence borne entitlement. Dress up and dance around in your best clown suit, because motherfucker, you're up on center stage. Play stupid fuckin' games, get a stupid fuckin' reward!

And if he still had anything to DO with the con scene, he could have just hosted a panel on his consent bullshit.

Rather telling that he even had to try and last-minute cobble together some ridiculous farce.

What happened, @Shane_Yes_That_One? Didja get woke, something something? Did we find out that outrage-culture hamplanets don't actually spend money?

Yeah, we could have told you that. But who'd you ask instead? You asked twitter.

How's your credit-scrore looking right about now? LOLOL!!!

Japan doesn't do Western (US) style anime conventions. Most of their cons (even the fan run ones) feel more like trade shows or a giant flea market. They basically run midday hours and shut down in the afternoon/evening. They don't run overnight like US cons do, so some things associated with that just don't happen. (or if they do, it's not a "convention" problem any more than a guy taking a drunk girl home from the club is the fault of the college they both attend during the day)

Right, conventions are more like spots where people will sell doujinshi and other goods that may be loosely related to anime. Even the bigger cons are likewise, though they tend to have the more major companies show up to announce new projects and give away merchandising.

Also, if any KV'ers say that Japan is neutral or, even, sides with them - then that's your cue to understand that they're fucking delusional. Japan doesn't say anything because they simply don't want to, to the companies it's America's fight and until they see noticeable cuts in profits, they'll stay silent, for the most part. The only time I've seen any reaction from JPN companies was when that some angry expats decided they were going to try to attack the anime mascot that was being used to promote the Red Cross blood drive a couple months back. When JPN companies do act, however, they tend to take the sledgehammer approach to fixing the problem.

However, I've seen more than a few otaku here absolutely bemoan the fact that America has any input in ANYTHING that originates in Japan - anime or vidya - even if much of the input only has to do with "localization." They are fully aware that Americans are losing their minds over anime and fear that it could lead to Funimation and other affiliated studios attempting to change things at the source. Of course it will never happen, because the makers themselves would flip shit if they had to make things to tailor the American "pallet." In the words of a friend, "the fact that an insane drunk, a fucking cow, and feminine men can influence the hearts and minds of American Otaku are signs that we should have never let them in."

The only thing that's totally canceled at this point is his con.

Outlook for it never was good. He would've gotten 300 people tops to show up and Vic just had over 700 show up for a one day, one off signing.

Hahaha hashtag stillfired amirite
You know for a guy that’s #stillfired, he sure is making a lot of money and drawing a lot of people.

You mean will be backstabbed. Start the clock.

Shane is an opportunist and has as much moral standing as a rubber snake. This entire exercise is just the rising standards needed to pass the KV purity tests in an effort to look more woke than the other, and airing of old grievances as their operation is put on hold due to appeals.

And if it has to be mentioned: a convention born from a rising frustration over Vic being invited to AM as well as BAM's failure to kill it, and a legitimate belief that ConsentCon will somehow surpass one of the most popular cons in the US when your most distinguished guest is background character #3 is so laughable and delusional that it has to be wondered if the person in charge is experiencing the same reality as the rest of us.

Actually it was his only guest to date. I don't think he was working very hard on it what with all the Twitter slap fights and what not.

You are correct. These people are seeing a different reality. Scott Adams calls is "one screen, two movies." KickVic has taken events and interpreted them one way, while ISWV has interpreted them a different way.

The problem is that you need solid events that conflicts with their world view to get people to change their minds.

So the failure of consent con is one such event. Somebody somewhere is going "how could the successful Shane Holmberg call off his convention. Unless he has no idea what he is doing. Maybe he wasn't so successful as he claims to be."

And so on. World views have to be broken piece by piece.

Well, that happened a year ago for most of us. Everyone who's still holding the flaming bag of shit waved bye-bye to objective reality a looong time ago. I'd be surprised if even Shane, who ought to have the best information, ever accepts that his con is cancelled. Let alone the two or three dangerhairs who sincerely wanted to buy tickets.

But remember: Vic is #StillFired. And that's a good thing. Because muh moral relativism.

I kinda saw this coming a mile away, those two morons kept yapping about the court cases all the time and I knew something was going to go awry with this scenario. Victims don't discuss court procedures. It's very unprofessional, it allows outside parties to influence, and it ruins the integrity of the case by a long shot and could end with a false conviction sometimes. It's the basic human fucking knowledge, but Rial and Marchi has this thing where a victim has to show off that they are a victim because they finally found something that's unique about them. Something that they can throw down on the floor and say "HAH YOU CAN'T FIGHT ME ON THAT BECAUSE I KNOW THAT BETTER THAN ANYONE".

That's why the victim in this entire case has remained silent.
