Why does every character have to look so revolting? The only character of his that’s cute is Bob. I get he wants to separate himself from Disney/Pixar/Dreamworks, but making all of the characters gross/disturbing isn’t the way to do it. You can still make deep and meaningful animation without going full edge lord. Sadly, Fennnah has yet to master any degree of subtlety in his work.
Del Toro is able to create sympathy for the human and non human creatures that he wants people to have. That’s also because there is more thought put into it, and they aren’t just there to speak on inane things. Every character created, had a purpose. He also doesn’t try to be edgy/dark just for the sake of it either.
I still won’t get over how this is a real thing that is canon.

I suppose I read that tweet differently to everyone else. I was more focusing on the second sentence, which to me gave the tweet an air of "Don't listen to others when they criticize you! They're not as intelligent as you are, and they should respect their betters!"
