I remember when David Draiman, the lead singer of Disturbed, gave up drinking and smoking as it was negatively affecting his singing ability.
I imagine that most singers give up or keep such habits to a minimum for the same reason.

Yep, I questioned him being a smoker due to his VA work. We know he likes the odd cigar if the occasion calls for it.
