Infected Euphoric atheists

I never thought I'd see atheists debating Molinism. These theological debates over free will were hashed out half a millennium ago and it's wild that all the same arguments are trotted out by atheists as by some of the early Calvinists. Epistemic materialism must do crazy things to peoples' minds to make them believe in absolute material determinism, especially when, if asked about it by someone, most of them would also opine on the egalitarian distribution of intelligence and that races are fake.

Hinduism and Shintoism do have gods, they're simply not dogmatic in the way that the Abrahamic religions are and they don't proselytize like Christianity and Islam do.

If the old pagan religions of Europe had survived into the modern day instead of being supplanted by Christianity, there's a good chance they would've ended up resembling modern-day Hinduism and Shintoism in a lot of ways.

Especially since Hinduism is rooted in the old Vedic traditions, which have a lot of cultural similarities with a lot of other Indo-European polytheistic views.

Otherwise, you're spot on. Atheists tend to have a massive hate-boner for Christianity since the movement largely started in countries that were traditionally Christian.

The "New Atheism" movement of the 1980's-2000's was largely a backlash against the Religious Right and this is where a lot of the guys like Dawkins and Hitchens came from. The SJW intersectionality movement was heavily rooted in the ideas of New Atheism before becoming more immersed in contrarian leftism.

The Atheism+ movement of the late 2000's and early 2010's was one of the earliest SJW groups out there, and IIRC, it was one of the largest and most visible in the pre-Occupy era. Prior to 2011-2012, the SJW ideology was mostly confined to college campuses, Tumblr, and the punk subculture. Atheism+ was the outlier and tried to hijack the New Atheists as a whole, leading to the "Fedoras vs. Dangerhairs" schism in modern atheist circles.

As much as I hate the fedora-clad euphoric atheists, I'd say they were the lesser of two evils and I'll respect them more if only for being more consistent in their criticisms of Islam. The only reason why SJW atheists are pro-Islam these days is because the Christian Right opposes Islam.
A+ itself was a laughably small outfit whose forum died (in terms of activity) within months, which grew out of an attempt to transplant the "sexual harassment at tech conferences" moral panic to atheist cons (both consisting largely of nerdy guys & therefore vulnerable to this method of attack). The SJW atheists soon realized it was better to simply hijack pre-existing organisations like Center for Inquiry, having their own organisation openly would be too honest.

I think this is the cringiest, angsty, fedora-tipping Reddit atheist shit I've seen in years. And it got upvoted.

They also went on about how more and more churches accepting LGBT people is just a cheap ploy to retain members and not Christians genuinely believing that you can be gay and Christian.

Oh, and they're pagan, which explains why they have a stick up their ass.

Now, I'll grant them a partial out, but it's not the one they probably want.

You can be gay and Christian, but only if you choose to not act on the urge. Temptation is going to be with us, but the only way you can stay Christian and not cheat on it is NOT act on the urge for homosexual relations. I know some gay people who struggle with that every day yet chose God over their own desires and admit it's hard but they want to gut it out because they believe the long-term rewards of serving God are better than their short-term desires.

Churches letting members openly practice their desires and knowingly letting them stick around is undermining the whole point of the church, and in the New Testament, it says to explicitly kick those people out for undermining the body of believers.

Intolerant? Certainly, but this is NOT a grey area for Christians. You either stay celibate in terms of homosexual relations or choose whether you serve God or your own desires.

If this pagan is mad that a moral commitment requires certain sacrifices, they are missing the whole point of why the commitment exists: Some beliefs require sacrificing some things you wouldn't want to give up because you believe, long-term, the reward is more than worth the sacrifice.

I cringe instantly whenever anyone says "x would like a word with you" ironically. Makes me think of a purple-haired Tumblr user accusing a fellow Superwholock fan of being a TERF for not thinking that Amy Pond isn't trans or something.

"Jesus talks more about Hell and Armageddon than about love". Which Sunday School did he go to? :story:

"Jesus was just like David Koresh or Charles Manson". Did Koresh and Manson put up with the law with zero resistance?

Oh, and they're pagan, which explains why they have a stick up their ass.
I don't know what do they mean by "pagan" but if their practice even apes the Druids, they have no leg to stand on when they accuse the Old Testament God demanding human sacrifice.

That weirdo seriously only talks about paganism and Christianity. Almost like she's autistic or something and this is her special interest. Which lo and behold she is:

The best part is all that this sad sack of shit stated about themselves is a lie, since it all belongs to r/thathappened on their part.

So someone shared this. It's from the "documentary" movie Zeitgeist.

There's a supreme irony in people dismissing the Bible (I think it's valid to question it) but unquestionably believe this claptrap.
Someone has ripped the movie to shreds but if you don't feel like reading all of it, I can debunk this with a simple question: "What calendar are we using?"

The December 25 date is only relevant if you’re using a Gregorian or Juilian calendar. Also, just because deities have similarities doesn’t mean that they are the same. It could just be that certain themes really get internalized by humanity as a whole (just look at how many flood stories there are). I know whoever created this was trying to “own” Christians, but if you’re going to do it, at least get the facts right.

Zeitgeist, much like Koyaanisqatsi, is something stoners put on in the background of a long night of bong rips and alcohol. Anyone not stoned out of their mind wouldn't be able to tolerate it for its full runtime, much less believe it.

One funny thing is that some of those alleged similarities are post-dated Roman-era or Victorian-era appropriations to try to bring Christians into other faiths. For Egypt this is namely the faux-Egyptian mystery cults of the post-Enlightenment era or Gnosticism.
