Exactly. Another plausible scenario is that Yaniv was involved in some sort of confrontation and police put Yaniv in the car to keep them separate from the other party during the interview process. Barring a need to arrest Yaniv, they'd be eventually free to leave and return home.

While it's curious to know what the RCMP was doing with Yaniv, most of us would probably want some sort of confirmation that this encounter with law enforcement resulted in an arrest and wasn't the latest nothingburger in the never-ending Yaniv Saga.
