I don't want to be a part of any of these 'movements' because anything, and I do mean anything remotely connected to this kind of empowerment-flavoured stuff in the modern era is doomed right from the start to be a disgusting, indulgent slapfight betweeen professional victims and amateur monomanical activists who will happily knife each other in the back to gain prominence. They all end in circular firing squads and attract the kind of aggressively autistic, language-policing, self-promoting , hideous SJW cunts who I prefer to avoid in real life or online.

It's no surprise fatties have taken over the 'body positive' movement given western society really doesn't produce that many horribly disfigured people any more compared to the past due to superior medicine and lack of conscripted, messy wars, and certainlycompared to poorer parts of the world where athe average westerner will be utterly shocked by the horrific human wreckage on view. Take a walk around some of the poorer parts of Asia or Africa and you will see disfigurements, disabilities and general sights that will stay in your mind forever after due to tropical and other disease, congential issues gone untreated and general neglect. Fatties, however, especially highly aggrieved middle class college girl versions brought up with a sense of entitlement as fat as their stomachs and educated into thinking their waist size has dee political meaning, are ten a penny here in the west now.

What’s crazy about the whole “colonizing” thing (which is simply people trying to wedge a way to call others racist for disagreeing with anything) is that before all this HAES/FA bullshit exploded, there was a very different movement. One that has apparently been steamrolled.

In the late 90s/early 00s, a bunch of books/media were being produced about dietary health in black (and brown, and whatever) communities. These were black radical anarchists/socialists/leftists, saying “you don’t have to shop at Whole Foods with rich white people to be vegan/vegetarian/healthy” and “eating healthy food does not mean abandoning your culture, there are other ways to prepare traditional food without deep frying it or covering it in bacon grease.” They talked about issues of obesity (and heart disease, and diabetes) in their communities and how to make changes even if you were poor. They talked politics- that a sick, fat population cannot bring about the positive changes the community needs. These aren’t my people or my politics, but it seemed pretty sane and decent.

But just as the idea of women’s liberation was crushed by individual empowerment and dudes in skirts, and the old leftists by the r.etarded twitter SJW bullshit you see now, this burgeoning movement was crushed by fat-ass college brats doing Torrid hauls and calling you racist if you don’t think they’re healthy and stunning in their CPAP machine.

Linda Evangelista (& Kate Moss & Naomi Campbell & Cindy Crawford etc) didn’t step into a modeling agency and go “I’m Linda Evangelista, and this is what I’m all about! Me me me!” They worked so hard and so well and were so beautiful that they made it look effortless, and made any clothing look stunning. And THEN they became the big names, and THEN people cared about their personality and personal life, and THEN the bigger & bigger jobs came along.

I understand that things are different now. New forms of media have changed the game. People get famous from home through a telephone, so you need to come right out of the gate with a personal brand & sell a lifestyle. I get it. But you know what hasn’t changed? What was true before Kate Moss was famous, and after, and is true now?

You need to do your goddamn job and do it well.

The reason models became rail thin is that way back the buyers were men and they became more interested in the models than the garments. Designers decided to use thin models with a more androgynous look to stop this so that they were essentially coat hangers showing off the designs. And, here we are. You are 100% correct. They are now meant to have a “personality “ to help sell the garment, but the clothes come first.
