While I understand the anger over this accident, sometimes things really are out of a parents control, even idiots like Greg and Lainey.
The negligence here is placing a climbing child’s bed in such a way that they can get to the window. Most people won’t think to not do that, but if you have a super active child like that, you have to look at everything. Not all kids have the urge to climb but when you have one, extra precautions need to be taken.
I know an active two year old who was put to bed with all doors locked, Mom was home, cleaning kitchen. Checks on sleeping child, all is well. She watches TV. Kid wakes up, climbs out of crib, unlocks back door (had never unlocked or opened a door before) goes outside, climbs over a six foot fence, and ends up in the middle of the street. Child is fine but kids do crazy things their parents can’t imagine or even know they can do.
.Wasn't it Eric Clapton’s son who fell out of a 30 story building in NYC? They didn’t know the window could open, or something. When I was a kid, kids seemed to fall out of windows andoff roofs frequently.
As for the baby screaming, she probably didn’t, it happened too fast. She was out cold when she hit. Greg probably heard her land but couldn’t interpret the sound so though it was tapping or something and got up to look. they had the doorbell video and nobody heard crying or screaming.
She may have no lasting damage from this, children recover quickly.
Videoing for the doctor is completely normal now. His story about the suicide was ridiculous though.
I dislike Greg as much as anybody and I’ve been in this thread from the start. I think he’s an awful parent, at least psychologically. But I can’t really chalk this up to much more than an accident.
The negligence starts after she gets home and needs extra comforting or develops a fear of heights or something, and they ignore all that.
