Jaron Seth Bloshinsky / Jazz Jennings / I Am Jazz - Puberty Blockers: Not Even Once

More and more trans suicide stories in recent years involve kids who had nothing but acceptance and love from everyone around them. In some ways, I think it drives them to despair when these traumatized, messed-up kids announce to family and friends that they hate their body so much and want to be a whole new person, and the response of everyone around them is "sure, sounds good, that other guy is DEAD now, you're someone totally new to us."

It'd be like if a wife said to her husband, "I'm worried I'm getting fat, I need to change my body" and he said, "I completely support your assessment of where your body is and needs to be, I'm here for you, I'll pay $25,000 for all the liposuction and other procedures you'd need to look the way you know you're supposed to look."

I don't think most women would feel reassured by that. I think they'd feel dismal and wish he'd either said something kind (even if insincere), or given a solution that was way less drastic like a diet or exercise. Sometimes the thing someone asks for, especially when it's a kid or teenager with poor communication skills, isn't at all what they actually want.

Someone like Jazz might have needed someone to tell him at the right time that his body really is him, that it's something to cherish and work with as it is, even if you pine for things that might have been a bit different. Function over form, all that. Or to be told that having feelings like you hate your body means maybe you could use some therapy to help you understand the changes you're going through.

The sad thing is, this isn't about "Transness: the Medical Condition" as much as it is about "How can we use Transness to push our political policies onto the general public and gain status within the wider world?" If you treat transness as anything other than a medical condition first and foremost, you're going to end up with a bunch of mutilated, suicidal people. It would be like building a nuclear reactor and, instead of putting worker safety first, you decided to spend most of your design effort on building the breakroom. ("Sure, the reactor explodes every once in awhile, but we've got a mini-fridge that looks like the Red Stapler from Office Space!")

You know who would have agreed with you? Martin Luther King. Malcolm X. Black Panthers. They had hair straighteners and skin lightening creams back then, But one point they drove home, was there is little we can do about immutable characteristics such as the color of our skin, or our chromosomes. All of this is written in our DNA, upon conception.

So instead of investing in expensive hair treatments and cosmetics, a different approach is to teach people to accept, and respect themselves, for what they are. And not hate themselves for who they can never be.

And yes, you are absolutely awesomely correct. Some people seem to be naturally a bit "tubby" and the battle of the bulge is a constant theme. So what do you do? Husband says "look, the solution is to not have junk food in the house and take a hike on Saturdays." NOT saying "sure sweety, here is 25 grand so that you can look more like Angela Jolie."

Jazz needs to cut his losses at this point and learn that his body is not a living sculpture. You just need to make the most of what you have. Then again, what direction would the show take?

Jazz needs to cut his losses at this point and learn that his body is not a living sculpture.

If there was a time to have that epiphany, it was long gone the moment he sat on the surgeon's bed the first time. If the body is a block of marble, his has already being carved with the wrong tools, for the wrong purpose and by a sculptor with Parkinson's. Closest thing he can have is regret, resentment and ultimately, best case scenario, resignation. He may be able to patch himself with ducktape here and there, but the harm's already been done unfortunately.

He can still find a purpose being a voice against the industry if he ever snaps out of it, that is.

The more I think about it the more I lean towards Jazz not killing himself yet because hes getting what he wants right now, attention.
If Jazz was going to kill himself, I dont think it would be until he is much older and people have forgotten about him.
He has no talent, hes not a personality or a character, he does nothing and has nothing, a manchild. That is a recipe for being forgotten.
Hes going to be like one of those people who won the lottery but didnt know how to handle money so they spent it all and are now broke.

Well, at least he can always pursue a career as an operatic castrato if this reality TV thing falls through. His lack of puberty ain't going anywhere and his mom can afford voice lessons. (rates self :optimistic:)

This person is 19 years old. Very few young adults, specifically around that age, have much to say at all. Some are interesting people with complex world views. But most are basically parroting what their parents taught them. They are also, in general, setting out on a path that they and their parents negotiated for them. Brain is still building critical thinking skills, until around 26 years of age.

Jazz is an ordinary person who happens to have an inverted, prepubescent penis. And s/he has a story to tell, marketed as a "journey." Chances are s/he has other talents and abilities, hopefully s/he will find her niche.

I agree to an extent, and really want to believe this. But with a mother like his, struggling to form a sense of self, strength, and identity is extremely difficult and can be practically crippling. It can leave a person emotionally and socially stunted, and that’s without being literally, physically stunted like this kid has. You don’t need to know these people irl to see how she operates, and tricky editing can only remix so much. Jeanette is a self-centered neurotic monster. I guess maybe Desmond’s mom is worse, but at least that kid has all his body parts...for now.

Every person only gets one mother in their entire life, and we have seen what his has done. The person that’s supposed to guide, nurture & protect you along with your dad. And instead she’s played a major part in grooming and gaslighting him into...this.

I don’t mean to be a huge bummer and I still do believe you could be right about him moving on, finding a sense of self, and telling his story. Nobody would cheer this kid on more than me. But let’s be real, Jazz isn’t just an ordinary person who happens to have weird junk in his pants any more than Reimer was.

A lot of us had/have crappy parents. As a child of shit-ass parents matures, and as the parents age, their shittiness becomes increasingly apparent. Although Jeanette is nowhere near end-stage, as the parents reach the end of the lifespan, they have gradually lost their capacity to construct elaborate facades, scenery and masks. That is because with age, they lose their mental agility.

Unfortunately, for the children of shit-ass parents, coming to terms with who their parents really are, and catching up on the nurture and love they missed out on, is a decades-long process. And often, it is a solo mission, as siblings and extended family are balkanized in their loyalties and willingness to face reality.

Life is long, however. None of this is insurmountable. But it takes a lot of stability and emotional support in order to say 'no' to your parent's voice in your head that undermines your ambitions and sense of self-worth. As for Jazz, none of us have a crystal ball. But we do know that something has to happen, because the earth moves and no living thing remain inert. Change is one of the few things we can count on.

I need a fucking hug, this is way too close to home. For all the clowning we do, I really do want to see this kid escape this bullshit and I think the vast majority of people here agree. I just hope he’s a fighter when the reality dawns on him. I don’t want to hear “former reality star Jazz Jennings dies of suspected overdose” after 15 years of watching him act like Amy Winehouse, ykwim? But if he does, I hope the tide has turned enough that people know where to point the finger.

QUICK SOMEONE SAY “STINK DITCH” SO I CAN STOP HAVING FEELINGS ABOUT THIS

This moment is brutal too.
It's very gradual, it's not so much a revelation as it is a "hunch". And as you follow it, you look back at all those things that seemed off, all those loose ties and the piles of dirt under the carpet, you do some research on this, read a bit more about that, maybe find a pattern and dig even deeper to get to its root. Everything slowly starts falling into place in tandem with you growing older and all those things that shaped you setting in and becoming clearer. Then you finally realize who those people that raised you actually were.
It's up to you if you want to try to empathize and understand, come to terms, pack up and change your name, deny everything, pretend nothing happened, wait until they're on their deathbeds to vomit everything on their face or never pay for their funerals.

Problem, at least for Jazz, is that you cannot do that while under their influence, when not under their complete control. Which is why him moving out is so important. It's not about him doing it because that's what's expected of a twatty adult, it's about him getting the fuck out of his mother's reach and having a moment of solace in which the only one telling him who he is would be his reflection in a mirror.

Jazz interview. Has this been linked?

😤
There's a point at 6:12ish that he says he represents all the qualities of a woman and he lists the following:
compassionate, loving, creative, intuitive, understanding.
Are these not qualities a man can't have? Or if a man has these qualities makes him a lesser man?

This reminds me of some hard-core lesbians who for some reason hate all men no matter what.

He is right as those qualities are more likely to be associated with female because women happen to be more empathetic than men... but that's something you can't say as it's sexist to associate a trait to a gender or a sex because ONE SINGLE TALL WOMAN proves that men aren't taller than women on average, shitlord!

Also, if there is some truth on lesbians being the result of more testosterone in the womb, then that could explain their lack of empathy. (testosterone, iicr, doesn't affect empathy in men, but it does in women)

Watching the show last night to refresh my memory, there was a scene with Gramps where he told Jeannette that she never denied Jazz anything ever. Jeanette looked like a deer caught in the headlights, while admitting it. Not only did she never deny Jazz, she never denied herself. And if that was the first time Gramps ever said that to Jeannette, then he never said no to Jeannette either. ffs what a shitshow

There's an amazing Lighthouse copypasta about trannies that I cannot find for the life of me, I promise I will though.
Edit:

Look at ye, pretty lady, with shoulders wide as a lad’s. Going on TV, playing the girl. Ye make me laugh with yer dresses and hair extensions. Ye pretended to some femininity in yer mannerisms, but there ain’t no femininity. Yer Jaron. A boy, says I. A painted actor, stuffing his face in his car, a bastard what wants to be famous for nothing but havin’ gender dysphoria, crying about the vagina what should’ve been yers! Now look at ye. Dilatin’. Boo. Boo. Whatcha gonna do? Will ye kill me? Will ye? Will ye cut me up like ye done yer cock?

>I didn’t!

LIAR! Ye deluded tranny! T’was ye that took them hormones! T’was ye what popped yer pussy open, tranny, t’was ye! Will ye say to me what ye wish ye’d said to Ol’ Ahmir’s mother? Will ye best me then? For Ahmir’s mother were right, Jaron! Yer a man! A man! A man!

People never seem to know where to point the finger. That is why these narcissists win, at first. However, If he hasn't acted like Amy Winehouse yet, he probably won't. Not everybody is susceptible to that drugy-bender type of behavior.

Catch is, they never fucking die. Seriously. A control freak like Jeanette is like a succubus, feeding on the souls of her victims.

Jazz just needs to break away. Maybe the network will sponsor a "Jazz moves out" season.
