I think Nick will ultimately move past the drama and in my opinion the real issue he has is what others have mentioned: he's a zoomer who doesn't have much experience interfacing with the real world so if not this then he is doomed for some larger autistic slipup later. Nick is only Catholic in a cultural manner, if he took his theology serious at all he'd be advocating some kind of sedevacantism if not leaving the faith all together.
