Well the WHO have convened today and as of now are not going to be declaring this as an international crisis yet. They will be reconvening soon, to discuss this again.

Edit to add no further situation report available yet.

At least China isn't doing a massive cover up like they did with SARS this time. It's a small silver lining, but a silver lining nonetheless.
They kinda did...

Seems That They Did/Are

With SARS the Chinese government refused to share virus samples. They refused to admit people were even sick.

It's not the same as deleting critical comments, which they always do. The two situations are world's apart, and the hysterics in this thread, while vaguely entertaining, are just that. Unlike with SARS, anywhere that matters has virus samples now and is on their way towards a vaccine. I understand the overwrought wailing and gnashing of teeth from the Chinese, but they're just going to go back to the kind of behavior that causes this shit to happen in a few weeks when it sputters away, just like with SARS.

I'm willing to put money on the earth not being dead and lifeless in 6 months.

I never suggested it would be. Merely providing information indicating that for the CCP old habits die hard.
I will agree to that without reservation. Also, as long as the CCP places so little value on their own people's lives this is going to happen at least once a year.

Even plague, at the lowest point in European hygiene and sanitation couldn't wipe out Europe. It did, however, bring out a mutation that made people immune to plague - iirc it is centered around Northern Germany. They could carry it, but never got sick. The funny thing is the mutation is still around. It has an interesting effect, if you have the mutation you'll never get AIDS, even though you can carry HIV, but you've got high resistance. There's a master race joke there somewhere, I imagine. It's been known about for a while but fully identified like 15 years ago (CCR5-delta32).

Maybe we'll get Chinese people who are immune to coronaviruses next and never have to suffer through a cold. Maybe they're already around.

It's really not surprising that this thing is spreading so quickly within China. They're up there with the Pajeets in terms of grossness. Besides what they eat, their disgusting habit of spitting in public is widely known.

Visit any Chinatown across the globe. You're bound to step in one or two puddles of spittle.

Ok chaps we need us some thematically appropriate music for the coming nightmare

Here are my entrants the reasonings for their inclusion

DONT FEAR THE REAPER - BLUE OYSTER CULT
Reason: It was used in both the book and miniseries of the aforementioned The Stand by Stephen King, sums up the general acceptance most doomer wannabes in this corner of the internet have with the prospect of dying of a neo-plague quite well, and honestly its one of my favourite songs so I kinda had to nominate it

EAST HASTINGS - GODSPEED YOU BLACK EMPEROR
Reason: Best song of the already sublime soundtrack to 28 days later which is probably my favourite pandemic apocalypse movie and one of my top three favourite zombie movies anne-frankly given the footage of the deserted Wuhan coming out it fits really well given its use in the "empty london" scene

WHEN THE MAN COMES AROUND - JOHNNY CASH
Reason: It was prominently used in the surprisingly awesome intro sequence to the frankly mediocre Dawn of the Dead remake and its lyrics are literally quotes from the book of revelations so it seems appropriate
Youre better off just posting the whole nier soundtrack because in that game china also ended up causing the end of the world by getting everyone infected

I find it really suspect how the media is treating this virus. At least in my own country the media is trying to stifle panic. This runs very contrary to the previous bird flu and pig flu, where the medical people where really attempting to seem serious. Even SARS didn't cause this big of a quarantine in China. I'm Actually getting to the point that this might be the twenties plague that happens every century, I like to subscribe to the theory "If rich people are worried about it, it's true", so looking at the stock markets,I'm quite worried.

I was nervous, sold I sold a portion of my stock. Might pull out cash when I get paid tomorrow.

Yeah, I’m starting to get pretty worried about this.

Even if things still wind up being ok this is going to be bigger than Ebola in 2014 was.

It really is insane the amount of stuff that’s happened all within the first month of the 2020s.
Yeah, ~0.00000714 percent of humans got sick with a new variant of a known disease. FFFUUUUUUUUU

Think it's worth noting that any and all weebs may be unintentionally responsible for any coronavirus hopping countries (so imagine that episode where Bart gets bit by a Chinese mosquito that was inadvertently smuggled into a toy). A lot of weeb cosplay shit seem to come from China, so if this has been going on for a long while now in China, the weeb factories and postal offices may be contaminated and it's being shipped overseas.

Gas the weebs.

I must formally apologize to my family, friends and peers for the sins I have committed, but honest to God they were purchased and well on their way before I got wind of this, and they should be on my doorstep any time now. I volunteer myself as the sacrificial lamb.
