I predict the numbers are at least 10 times that. 10k infected, 100-300 dead.

And China knows about 10k infected

That means... 200,000 infected, 190,000 undetected, right? That would line up with the messages being snuck out of the area.

Wonder how that affects the predicted infection of 180,000 in 2 weeks? If we're going from 11k to 180k in 2 weeks... 200k to... 3.3 million?

that’s the thing. In lower population density, high quality medical care areas like North America, it just shows up as a bad respiratory infection during flu season. Most cases will not be picked up as potential Coronavirus until epidemiologists go back and start looking at records. It probably will not stand out from the normal seasonal background noise of flu and pneumonia. At least not until it begins to tax resources such as clogging ER’s. Remember in North America it is incredibly rare not to have at least 2-3’ separation from other people at all times. Even on mass transit. The most worrying vector for it to spread is the health care workers themselves, and air travel.
