I watched the @CNN special #ThisIsLife by @lisalingstagram on benzodiazepine dependency and addiction (check the link in my stories) and it really moved me….the careful reporting and the empathic look at what it means to have your brain destroyed by the drug you thought would heal you. So many of us suffer from anxiety and unfortunately not all doctors explain that drugs like Xanax and Klonopin are not magic bullets or life time solutions. Getting off of these drugs can be harder than the anxiety that caused us to seek treatment in the first place. Recovering from a benzodiazepine dependency was the most challenging thing I’ve ever done and it took real patience and support from loved ones and from groups of addicts, who still support me every day as I navigate year two of sober life. But this process also freed me and gave me the life of my dopest dreams- I mean, pun intended I guess!? I hope we are working toward a world where the support I was given is not a rarity and those suffering in silence aren’t viewed as weak or troubled. After all, anxiety does not discriminate. I got this tattoo (a rosary of pills) to remind me of where I’ve been and that my job now is to help others manage their anxiety in healthier ways. If you or someone you love is dealing with an addiction to or dependence on benzos, you are not alone. But PLEASE don’t try and stop without support - some things are bigger than we are and asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness ❤ ..
This weekend, I am being honored by @friendlyhousela as Woman of the Year at the Awards Luncheon. I’m so so thankful for their guidance and encouragement throughout my journey to recovery. I know firsthand that they have saved so many lives and I will forever hold them near and dear to my heart. After the “Yeah, I’m Not For Everyone” piece in The Cut that was basically 100% shade (it’s so good lol) I knew it was only a matter of time before there would be a total puff piece about how super duper happy and content and at peace she honestly really is you guys!!! After The Cut came out I was like “oh my damn, this is way too far to just be edgy and show her more ~interesting ~dark side. It’s a total hit piece.” Like who tf wants to work with “Courtney Love but ugly and uninteresting and stupid and somehow even more annoying”? So of course now we have this piece, complete with Lena in pink in every photo, open-mouthed laughing like a sped who just shit her pants. Facilitated, I’m sure, by a hard working agent who was very, very specific about what kind of piece it needed to be.

Yep, I noticed that, too! Either she's lying (common for her) or she ended up freezing some eggs from her remaining ovary sometime in 2019.
