Googleshng's Googleshngs
We all know Jake is in the habit of googleshnging into the void, but can we put some numbers to this? We can!
Our data journalists defined a "googleshng" as a Twitter conversation of 10 tweets or more, replying to himself only.
By this metric, Jake has googleshnged 684 times, with the length breaking down as follows:

Interestingly, there's a power law at work here too: the "half-life" of Jake's head of googly steam is about 10 tweets.
The longest googleshng of all time was a brain-melting 208 tweets, which he had to pause halfway through because "someone came to the door" - presumably his mom.
For a little flavor, here are the top ten googleshngs by length, and their topics:
Googleshng Length Topic 208How to spot a Nazi 138Internet bogeymen are responsible for recent mass shootings 87Against subtweeting, whisper networks, and block lists 86Armchair theorizing about Gamergate mentality; internet ridicule is literally killing his orphaned friend because stress kills 82Gamergate tactics; the rumor mill 81The social justice community is infested with fascists 76The 2016 Democratic primary, in retrospect 71Chromosomes and sex; "man genes" can migrate over to the X chromosome and the resulting XX man will sire XX male and XY female children (!!!) 70RPGs' problematic treatment of race 66Mourning Brianna Wu's frozen dog; general bewailing of life under Gamergate
Most of these aren't worth archiving or even linking, but here's the "migratory man gene" tweet, which is one of the most remarkable things he's ever come up with

Does he think that he's an XX man? Or that his mom is an XY woman?![]()
Like most Jakeisms, the migratory male tweet is based on truth and then takes a hard turn to crazyland.
The part of the Y chromosome that "makes you male" is the SRY gene. When this is translocated to the X instead of the Y chromosome, a very, very rare condition develops.
However, the part where he says that these people then have children who are equally likely to be XY males, XY females, XX males, or XX females is crazy beyond crazy. Like most intersex people, the unfortunates born with a displaced SRY gene are almost always infertile.
