It is looking at the ratio of ACE II genotype over the ACE II + ID +DD. I = insertion, D = deletion at the 16th intron. ACE II =/= ACE2. Those are different genes, they are not even located on the same chromosome!

If there's a group of people I feel really bad for, it's the doctors and nurses on the ground. Those people have been grinding away for weeks on end, near-burnout (if not already), risking a potentially deadly sickness only to be treated like shit by their patients and government.

They are the true heroes in this situation.

Chinese doctors right now are understaffed, massively undersupplied, shiting and pissing in adult diapers because they can’t take their suits off and risk infection, and sleeping on floors and chairs getting less then three hours sleep if any at all.

If there are any complaints from doctors or information about how bad they are being treated, well China will tell you that those doctors never existed and to stop asking questions.

God bless everyone of those Chinese doctors if anyone deserves a vacation right now it’s them, can you imagine how horrible it must be to be in their piss soaked shoes right now?

So the WHO was having another meeting today to discuss if this should be considered as a world wide emergency. It was starting at 1.30 pm Geneva time. Then there was going to be a press conference afterwards. Think it must still be going as there has been no press conference. Not envious of the people stuck in that at all.

I love that shit. Has actual medicine in it and doesn’t taste like shit (I kinda grew to like the taste). So, can’t think of any science behind this one, but someone told me to let the water go clear before drinking it and it would work better.

I use it when I have a cold that’s not shitty enough to not work, but shitty enough to make everything shitty. Does pretty well at that and I personally don’t like taking pills (I will, but if something can be put in water or like a BC powder I’ll go that route instead). I’m lucky in that an old boss/friend of mine is a retired pharmacist so he would give me recommendations on what to take. Also, still knows everyone so even though you can be coughing a lung up doctors won’t give you codeine cough syrup anymore. I literally went to the docs one time and they thought I was double my age and a smoker from the phone call didn’tgive me that. Called him up and he called back which store to go to to pick up Schedule V codeine (no stores really give that out anymore either). I’m just like thank fucking god because yeah there’s a opioid issue, but if I’m at thatpoint script me some fucking real cough syrup ffs.

The first human-to-human transmission of the deadly Wuhan coronavirus has occurred in the U.S., the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Thursday.

The respiratory virus was spread from a woman from Chicago who had recently traveled to China and gave it to her husband after she returned, CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield said.

It's the sixth confirmed case of the new coronavirus, or 2019-nCoV, in the U.S.

In addition to Illinois, other cases have been confirmed in California, Arizona, and Washington state. Worldwide, the Wuhan coronavirus has spread to at least 20 countries since it was identified last month, the CDC says.

Illinois health officials are currently investigating 21 other possible cases in the state. The CDC says the relatively few people who have been identified as close contacts of people with confirmed coronavirus infections should follow the guidance of their doctors and health departments.

The CDC says members of the public do not need to wear masks out of concern for the coronavirus.


To reduce the chance of spreading any respiratory illness, the CDC recommends that people take simple steps such as washing hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds and avoiding close contact with anyone who is sick.

People returning from Wuhan and other areas of high-risk in China should be vigilant for signs of illness, including fever and cough, according to the CDC. Those people should call their health care provider if symptoms do develop.

The fizzing is the worst part lmao. Although letting it sit a little bit longer afterwards is a good point, I start chugging it down once the fizz goes away, and the taste giving me the shakes during it are a reason why I don't really go for it. But I guess my problem was using cold water for the regular kind, the flavored stuff uses hot water and that goes down much more easily.

Also, is it really bad if the expiration date is just a few months old at this point? The open box right now apparently "went bad" back in September, and I figured I'd just go ahead and use up what's left before opening another box (see how long that's been sitting around, too).

No. The Han Empire's biggest problem historically with domestic security is that they tend to react to mass protests, even externally-coordinated, violent ones (you know, overturning and burning police vehicles, burning and beating policemen to death), in as kind a fashion as possible at first.

This is exacerbated by the fact that the Party contains a wide variety of political tendencies, and often some of those tendencies will see some common ground with various protest groups no matter how unreasonable.

With an actual crisis on? I would be very surprised if they let agitators get away with any silliness.

As somebody with effectively zero knowledge of the inner workings and politics of the CCP other than "shit aint as all knowing and all powerful as they like people to think" I think it would depend entirely on someone else making the first move, be it a major region trying to break away or a full on coup/civil war in the CCP with military involvement, because china has been making it real fucking clear to as many people as possible that it doesnt fuck around when stamping down on anybody it considers a secessionist.

Also remember that china has been mass exporting han-chinks to outlying regions for nearly a century now to head off independence movements down the line, although to be frank given the universal cynicism the chinese proles seem to have beyond casual nationalistic bombast, it wouldnt surprise me if they would simply shrug and join up with independence movements if they thought they could get away with it
