I was there and spergin' hard, and this is pretty accurate. I can't remember if this was before or after Trump was elected, but it was definitely before anyone who was even slightly pro-Trump was run off the forums. The tumblrinas would label anyone who disagreed with them as bigots/homophobes/whatever (this was pre-"everyone's a nazi"), or accuse them of concern trolling/tone policing/gas lighting/sea lioning. If you stuck to your guns, a proto-woke mod would probate or ban you. Especially for any thread involving racial or queer politics, there was a hard core of posters who would routinely pounce and fuck things up. Koala's March was one, but I remember Tiny Brontosaurus and (I think) that hulking troon who Dolezal'd as a black woman leading the charge.

As today, the woke crew would paint themselves as the victims and frame their behavior (which would get anyone else banned) as necessary acts of resistance & totally understandable responses to bigotry. They acted like SA was basically Stormfront and used their social victim narratives to deny their power within the forums. The current language wasn't in place yet but the catastrophizing and conspiracy theorizing are the same. It's crazy how much that hasn't changed, even as LowT sits there flicking his dick and wondering why the forums are dying.

Anyway, shit got so obnoxious that KM, TB & Co. were given TGRS to pacify them. Whether or not it was meant to be a containment forum, or a safe space for vulnerable posters, is a matter of perspective. Whatever the case, it was meant to calm shit down in D&D. It's telling, though, that Tiny Brontosaurs was perma'd shortly afterwards for being a completely toxic fuckwad, and that TGRS was created for certain people and not certain topics. Absentee landlord that he is, my guess is LowT gave it to them to shut them up and KM took it as a victory.

If it was a containment forum then it failed because the core problem was that some of the mods had the woke crews' back, and that was never addressed.

Phenazepam is apparently a drug a lot of goons were into at that time and lots of them did incredibly fucked up things on it. I'm not sure if this is just because goons are lightweights or this is some serious bad ju-ju of a drug. It's apparently a super benzo. The few trip reports on Erowid, another druggie forum, seem to be mixed to bad so it seems this is something you should generally not do without good reason to do it. the tcc phenazepam thing was a troll that got out of hand because goons are actually that stupid. a few of us in a private tcc irc channel were reading the ridiculous stories on bluelight.ru (the other druggie forum) and someone said, "I bet tcc goons are this dumb too" and its really all history from there. all we did was make a few posts saying how good it is in random threads, and a few days later posted the first phenazepam megathread. early on into the thread at least one goon who had already tried it and had a horrific experience shared their hellstory but that didn't stop tcc goons from buying grand pianos and crashing their cars.

a tcc goon who from their post history had never tried anything stronger than weed in his life spent his entire life savings on a back pack full of it and became the first "goon vendor" openly dealing it to goons on samart. he collected a bunch of money from goons and then for some mysterious reason traveled across america by bus, with a back pack full of drugs and zero street smarts, live-blogging the experience in the thread while rapidly becoming less coherent with every post.
