A bit ironic now then China's population due their one-child policy aged fast and will begin to decline after 2050. As for too many people, India and Africa said "hold my beer".

That's so funny. I mean Jesus's original message has always been a considered a bit of an ur-socialist thing; the early Christians were notorious in their time for being pretty communal. The Chinese empire is acting pretty much the Roman empire when they couldn't stem the tide any more, this time with a new council rewriting the books so as to consolidate empirical power.

You could theoretically immunize people with another person’s antibodies, antivenom was and might still be made by injecting horses with shit and cycling out the antibodies, but that won’t amount to much if this is like SARS where reinfection is a concern.

problem is how will we know when/if a million chinks die? the ccp controls all statistics coming out, we all know a lot more than just 300 have died so far yet 300 is the number we're going with because that's all we've been given. so if the CCP wants to keep this shit secret they will, at least for some time

We still have a week or two before we find out just how well contained it actually is in the west (assuming the incubation period given by the authorities so far is correct).

Also, a lot of people have been saying this or similar throughout the thread, and I think it's very optimistic to think that people in the west are so much cleaner as a whole. We have our own share of nasty bastards.

Humans are animals, and animals are filthy. Sure, people in civilized nations might not be eating bats or smearing shit all over their floors, but to act like we're so much better that the idea of an epidemic is a non-starter is absurd.

E: If you think I'm full of shit, take note of how many people you know who know better than to cough or sneeze into their hands. Or how many people you've seen in the past year fail to do so.

Depends on where you live. But generally it shouldn't be the death toll making you crap your pants but the symptoms. This is a pneumonia virus. So if you're immunocompromised or have respiratory issues, get gloves. If not, just be wary of possible spread where you live and a little self conscious so as to aid those that are.

Thing is, the west goes through yearly flu epidemics with the same symptoms as this shit and variable morbility, yet it stands as if that's just life and you gotta just move on. We've literally been through worse. What you're seeing is a spanish flu situation. The virus itself isn't that bad, it's the catastrophic systemic societal collapse that gives it its power.
