We still have a week or two before we find out just how well contained it actually is in the west (assuming the incubation period given by the authorities so far is correct).
Also, a lot of people have been saying this or similar throughout the thread, and I think it's very optimistic to think that people in the west are so much cleaner as a whole. We have our own
share of
nasty bastards.
Humans are animals, and animals are filthy. Sure, people in civilized nations might not be eating bats or smearing shit all over their floors, but to act like we're so much better that the idea of an epidemic is a non-starter is absurd.
E: If you think I'm full of shit, take note of how many people you know who know better than to cough or sneeze into their hands. Or how many people you've seen in the past year fail to do so.
