What Pelosi did is stupid on so many levels that I have to seriously question her mental capabilities. It's one thing to not applaud a speech or ignore a handshake. But to tear up the president-signed script like that in front of the cameras, showing your open disdain and complete disregard for nuance and diplomacy is not something a house speaker should even consider. Being neutral is literally her job. She just gave the Republicans the best ammo they could've hoped for - not only did she fail to throw Trump out, but she also threw a childish tantrum over him. They won't let anyone forget this moment, just like Hillary's "deplorables" comment.

Honestly after reflecting at length on their absurdly suicidal and self destructive behavior since 2016, I think that the only answer that is not some seven layer burrito of spooknigger conspiracy is that whatever passes for a "ruling council" in democrat land is fundamentally and pathologically incapable of accepting they lost the 2016 election.

I think that they have buried themselves in a sealed off echo chamber of "important people" which has both been aggressively shooting down any suggestion from within and without that their tactics then and afterwards were at all flawed or wrong, and also cranking out comforting lies about how this was all the work of an evil foreign conspiracy/ballot stuffing/super-duper techno hacking that they will inevitably have exposed by the end of the month, and that this temporary setback can then be quickly expunged and forgotten about as they assume their rightful position in governments again.

There is a reason I coined the term "Chernobyl Truths" to describe when a government/party/bandwagon/ideologically bound group of any kind are confronted with a catastrophic disaster, usually of their own making, which completely humiliates them and contradicts the official party line in the worst ways imaginable, and which is simultaneously utterly impossible to ignore or downplay or deny or deflect blame from due to how obvious and explosive it is, but also utterly impossible for those within the party to *not* ignore or downplay or deny or deflect the blame since merely acknowledging such an disaster occurred would be an existential wound on both "the cause" of the group and any individual member's future within that group.

This results in both the group as a whole and its individual members defaulting to panicked denial that anything is amiss while babbling about how anybody who points out the obvious shit that happened are just "swallowing the lies and sabotage of evil outsiders", kicking the can down the road as much as possible, hoping every moment that the problem will magically just go away, and this state of affairs will continue until the damage of the initial disaster becomes so profound and toxic to even the most spineless of individual members that the group reluctantly acknowledging what everyone else has known for a longass time in an effort to try and salvage the situation, but inevitably they have done so far too late to retain even a modicum of their former prowess and esteem and popularity among the masses, leading to a universal surge of hostility against this group for a good generation afterwards that cripples them and their powerbase indefinitely, which could have all been avoided if they had not spent so long in mindless denial and instead immediately and openly set about changing whatever shit led to the disaster in the first place

TLDR: Trumpocalypse 2016 was Chernobyl, and the Democrats are still stuck babbling about how the spicy black rubble is just burnt concrete and that the firemen rotting alive are faking it
