They smell nice... the "generally recognized as safe" use of essential oils is to add them in very small quantities for fragrance or flavor. There's little to no reason to buy super expensive "medicinal grade" essential oils, though. Ordinary commercial products already contain essential oils as fragrance/flavor agents, and there's nothing about MLM pyramid schemes that makes their essential oils "better."

Some of them are also good solvents, and an integral part of some cleaning products, for instance citrus-based cleaner, or Pine-Sol cleaner (originally, at least... it became cheaper to produce the solvents synthetically than to use real pine oil). Again, commercially available products already contain the stuff, so you don't have to go out of your way to buy it.

And last, some of them are downright toxic; they're concentrated extracts which contain stuff that a plant synthesized to try to protect itself from various pests... but frankly you probably shouldn't be trying to invent potions to poison the stuff in your near proximity. That's better left to the experts... actual experts, not woo peddlers.
