I don't think most people find dressing up as roles from other cultures as automatically offensive or racist, at least where there's no obvious offense intended, however. But I see how dressing up as "an Indian" or "an African" can be... not good.

Would it be okay to dress as another culture as long as people come up to to shout racist things at the person dressing up? Also aren't the SJWs oppressing the costume wearers? You could say people trying to experience other cultures are a harassed and oppressed minority due to the SJW's views toward them. So they do experience oppression just not he right kind I guess.

Well, I've learned my lesson. I'll never appropriate culture again. I've been so ignorant all this time, going to restraunts and debasing proud POC culture by eating their food. But no longer! Everyone should follow my example!

WHAT? The Chinese/Indian/Japanese restraunt closed down? Typical of oppressive western culture! Driving POC's out of business!

Someone once told me that I was APPROPRIATING for eating Korean food regularly. Doesn't matter that it's the only affordable lunch in Midtown, that it's in line with my lactose intolerance or that regularly eating fermented foods like kimchi stopped my horrific intestinal ulcers. (Or, you know, that supporting people's businesses is directly supporting them.)

This was after she was done telling me that you have to actively date every race or you're a bigot (but not every gender 'cause girls are icky). Just thinking about that conversation again is upsetting :(

What do these people think happens in situations where there are no OPPRESSED WOMYN? How about a gay date? Would there not be some door-holding, terms of affection, bill-taking, etc.?

Or worse yet, what would happen on a straight date if a guy failed to hold doors open etc.? (How about a Salon piece about how you're a feminist but you don't want your boyfriend to be a feminist because that makes him a pussy?)
