Spraying things down is probably only partially preventative measure but mostly propaganda. It's something that people can see happening. Trying to calm the population down a bit by going 'look! see! we're doing something to stop the spread!'

And yeah, it's entirely possible that he got so sick between January 21st and whenever the US sent that plane to repatriate its citizens in Wuhan that he couldn't go. But I can just as easily see the CCP saying, "No fucking way; you're staying right here."

That's good news for those that are modern countries considering that their gargantuan death rate is largely due to incompetence and not just an utterly overwhelming disease. But considering it has HIV strains in its DNA sequence, I very highly doubt that it was a spontaneous mutation of some other disease that occurred in nature and I doubt that China were researching diseases for the purpose of creating preemptive cures. the real question how much of the death/infection rate is because of the disease being effective and how much is based on chinese being retarded. not only didn't they do shit for weeks after patient 0 but they then had a feast with 100k citizens eating from the same plates and even let millions leave the state before ordering the quarantine. while at the same time in the west we immediately quarantined anyone with symptoms or have been in contact with anyone from china.

For point one. This is why the first thing the Hong konger's did was burn down the designated "Quarantine Centers". They knew exactly what they would be used for.

Kim is fucked. Even if he manages to avoid his restless smugglers dragging the virus across his borders, he is still fucked as he desperately needs food and fuel from China. And that's stopped coming. Ships loaded with LNG and Crude oil are sitting at anchor outside Chinese ports because they don't have anybody to unload them. Same with ships of Rice, Wheat and Soybeans. NK's crops failed again last year. They've been depending on Chinese shipments. But China is currently on lockdown. Goods aren't moving. And no regional governor is going to let vast quantities of food supplies leave his area to go to NK at this time, when he has no way of knowing when his regions food will be replenished. I'm actually wondering if the better long term move on Trump's part might be to send a ship or two of soybeans towards NK to help tide them over. Use both the Carrot and the Stick.
