Why is it that every time a new female-led/black-led/etc. movie comes out, they seem to forget about the hundreds that already existed before? Wonder Woman wasn't that long ago, and you guys still praise Captain Marvel like one of the best films ever made.
With Wonder Woman, it was actually understandable that people would say this; the last comic book superhero movie with a female lead, Elektra, sucked ass so even an okay WW would have been a massive step up. This however is Black Panther all over again, only worse.
As for why it happens? Take a pick from some crackpot theories of mine; they legitimately have the memory of a goldfish, representation is a “finite resource” and to prop one piece of media, another must fall or it’s simply journalists being lazy and recycling old articles.

I agree, and would add that they are focused on being the 'first' and a 'making a difference' and the delusion that their screeching on Twitter means anything falls apart when faced with the fact that women/POC/whatever did it before them, and didn't need them.
