Glad to see pretty much every government (outside of China) finally starting to handle this competently. No confidence that the CCP is going to ever get their shit straight though.

I kinda wonder what's going to happen to Xi Jinping if he ends up fucking this up so badly that China's economy collapses. It would be a good excuse for anyone under him in the communist party to oust him from his position.Glad to see pretty much every government (outside of China) finally starting to handle this competently. Something interesting for all those smart kiwis. The University of Toronto created a model that suggests the infection started back in November of last year. This thing had over two months to spread throughout China. This also plays along with what the missing lawyer said during one of his early interviews, the taxi drivers knew that something was going around the wet market. It's possible they might have even known before the doctors.

Model built by U of T researchers suggests coronavirus outbreak began in November, has yet to be controlled
The coronavirus epidemic started one month earlier than is commonly reported and has yet to be brought under control, a new disease-transmission model created by University of Toronto researchers suggests.www.utoronto.ca
Honeslty I doubt Xinnie the Ping is going anywhere. The CCP has the masses raised into loyalty. That said, the rest of the world walked in on China with their pants down and now everyone knows what the hairy scrotum of the CCP really looks like. I don't know if "laughing stock" would be the right word, but you can bet your ass going forward this fiasco is going to temper international decision making.I kinda wonder what's going to happen to Xi Jinping if he ends up fucking this up so badly that China's economy collapses. I'm willing to believe he caught it by chance, rather than design. And yeah, it's entirely possible that he got so sick between January 21st and whenever the US sent that plane to repatriate its citizens in Wuhan that he couldn't go. But I can just as easily see the CCP saying, "No fucking way; you're staying right here."
We'll never know, unfortunately. There is just so damned much we will never know.
South Americans are friendly and outgoing, limiting social contact will be very hard. It makes me sad to realize this."Crew and returnees should avoid speaking while the meal is being served: "in the distribution of meals and snacks, it is advisable that there is no diversity in the offer of food and drinks, to avoid delay in the onboard service and excess conversations. Preferably, it should be made available meal already individualized and ready for consumption ", says the document."
The resort is really named ‘les contamines montjoie’??
The fuck is wrong with that fucking government? Can they do anything without making it completely assinine?Answer seems pretty obvious to me. He was an immigrant to the USA originally, which means he had Chinese citizenship and passport. Then he acquired USA citizenship/passport.
China does not recognise dual nationality or passport holders if one of those passports is Chinese. For all intents and purposes, if you hold USA and Chinese passports, you are a Chinese and will be treated as one. No right to contact the USA embasse if you're arrested, for example, because in their eyes you are only Chinese.
The Brits who were airlifted originally had the same issue - those married to Chinese living in the UK with dual passports found their spouses were not permitted to leave. Those with kids born in China and with Chinese passports found their kids were not permitted to leave with them. This was reported and I'm not sure if the UK government managed to put pressure enough on Beijing to make them relent. If they did, I'm sure they kept the fact on the down low by agreement. China would lose face allowing Chinese citizens to break the rules in this way.
But this guy, being an original Chinese-born guy, no way would they treat him as anything other than Chinese. It's the same trick the Iranian regime pulls with dual Iranian citizens btw.
It's not really "a thing".Of low interest but a friend last week told me that she believed Coronavirus was a hoax put about by racists. If not actually not existing, then bigged up disproportionately. She wasn't clear on the purpose of the hoax exactly, but I got the impression she believed the intent was to encourage racism against Chinese people. Is this a thing? I haven't really been plugged in much this past month.
Sure, I'll sponsor a trip to Wuhan for her, let her see "racism" with her own slanted eyes.Of low interest but a friend last week told me that she believed Coronavirus was a hoax put about by racists. What's funny to me is that I've noticed that Chinese students around campus seem to kinda be avoiding each other. lolOf low interest but a friend last week told me that she believed Coronavirus was a hoax put about by racists. It's an Asian virus, so of course it's expected to be good at math.
Why are people dividing the total number of confirmed cases by the death toll?I'm not good at math, but the quota stays the same up until now.
First I didn't get it (bc bad at math) but they divide the numbers of infected by the death-count. As of now 37590 infected, 814 deaths, corona-chan is still master of math and stays consistent: 2,1% --"keep the same energy" or something.
Since yesterday our beloved statistics and JHU-map shows an increase of 2651 newly confirmed cases.
Between yesterday and the day before we had a growth of around 3000 also.

Wouldn't you take the total number of completed cases (recovered plus dead) and divide by the number of dead?
What I'd like to know is which strain of the virus most of the people in the recovered column had.I'm not good at math, but the quota stays the same up until now.
