If they are doing Tai Chi, that might also be a part of their traditional Chinese "medicine" treatment.
Tai Chi is fucking stupid communist shit. Yoga is better, and actually benefits physiology.

they doing Tai Chi. heard that doing Tai Chi is a must or your social credit score will go down since the chines government is using Tai Chi to strengthen their nationalism.

exact choreographed robots is the only way!

Gee, it's almost as if so-called "xenophobia" and other right wing ideals are actually a society's collective immune system. I wonder if the rise of woke shit is enabled by recent medical advances, why fear getting pozzed if you can just take drugs and suppress all the symptoms?

You may have heard about conservatives supposedly being more susceptible to disgust in social situations, more or less confirming that idea, although like pretty much all "cool sounding" results in psychology, it doubt it survived/will survive the replication crisis.

Tai Chi is really good exercise for older people especially, all-over gentle body exercise that is supposed to be daily practice and thus keeps them active and supple and on their feet instead of slumped into chairs in front of the TV. You see old people doing it in groups in parks and even under lone trees in city squares in Japan and Singapore as well as in China. I think it's one of the reasons older people there are often less pathetically crippled by age than in the west. Use it or lose it applies, and many western people just give up moving at all with age and muscle atrophies and they become weak and frail when they need not be.

Seeing it in the context of a quarantine death camp though, with hazmat suited leaders ... eh gods. That is freakish. I guess it helps to keep otherwise bedbound people active in some way that'll help the blood ciculate but there's something bleak about it too.

Dr. Purr is very cool

Lol, I love how (((corporate media))) is downplaying the fuck out of this because they're afraid of causing a stock market crash, but in the past they played up far less significant outbreaks like Zika for the ratings. I hope if this shit hits the west people will realize how dishonest the media is, but I know that's likely laughably optimistic.

Thank you Dr Purr, very cool.

On topic, on the BBC Newshour they're saying that the Director General of the WHO is NOW calling our new waifu a "grave threat to humanity". There's an interview with someone in Shanghai who's saying that medical personnel in the locked down areas are going around in full hazmat gear, and General Motors in the Republic of Korea has laid off workers due to not having parts; expected this will happen in America soon too.

I'd be listening to China Radio International on shortwave for any info but right now the only broadcast I can get is from Cuba and it's "classics of Chinese literature" or something like that.

HUGE, indeed. Seems like every city and town in CA has a substantial homeless population. Can see anywhere from one to three homeless people spending the night in their vehicles parked on our street, which is in a "good" area of town. See people in tents from time to time living under an underpass I walk by most days. Our area's country supervisor allows homeless people to park in her office's parking lot overnight - at a cost of six figures of OUR tax dollars for contractors to monitor the area, provide certain things, etc.

Come into Salinas on Amtrak and you see homeless encampments lining the side of the tracks for several hundred yards. Monterey seems overrun with homeless. You don't want your little kids to go to the Monterey Public Library by themselves. Homeless all over the place, not to mention the occasional prostitutes - and the library is right across from the police station.

If this virus gets going among the homeless here, can see fatalities. We'll make very sure to stay away from the homeless - we do anyway.
sorry to derail a bit, but could we put @Yotsubaaa's table of contents posts into the OP? they're useful for navigating through the vast amount of content compiled here by lovely kiwis and catching up on what's been happening if you're behind. this thread moves fast.

they might have posted more. these are just the ones I have bookmarked but I've been too sick & busy to keep up w the thread. thanks for keeping track of everything Yotsuba.

also, I found out from my colleague that the reason there are no face masks in the surrounding area is because chinese nationals are buying them and shipping them to family. i imagine this might be happening in other communities too, if you're unable to buy face masks. not really aggro about it anymore because i guess they need them more (though i'm becoming more and more convinced that china is a lost cause at this point anyway).

Corporate media would love a stock market crash right about now. Crises are great for business and an economic disaster would not be good for their nemesis orange man.

Lol nigga, for one they all have money in the markets themselves, and for two, if you had an economic crash because of this, it would basically make one of Trump's biggest points for him which is that us importing all our shit from the pollution goblins is a horrible idea.

- LA hospitals routinely dump homeless patients. He implied this happened with the 4 people from last Friday. He's concerned this practice could lead to an epidemic.

The thing is...this is the right thing to do. If they don't need access to critical care then there's no point in having them hang around the hospital.

Imagine you get infected with 2019-nCoV and the worst you ever develop are moderate respiratory symptoms. This appears to actually be the average course of the disease. Your life isn't in danger at any point, but you can still spread the virus around whenever you cough. Now you're chilling in the emergency department and have the potential to infect everyone who comes through (PPE is usually kinda hit-or-miss in EDs), and some of these patients are naturally going to be very high-acuity unrelated to 2019-nCoV. They don't need viral pneumonia on top of whatever the hell else is wrong with them.

Quarantining them is infeasible, so your best option of all the bad choices is just to send them out into the community and hope people have enough sense to avoid the coughing homeless person.

Probably because it just comes off as a show in this case. "Rook! Errything fine in Grorious Peopre's Recovery Camp! Praise Emperor Xi!"
