COVID-19? Lame, Wu Flu is catchier and that is how I will tell the story to future generations. Or at least that's how I'll still call it on the other side, since the meme's already engraved into my soul.

I know I've joked about this before, but this really does feel like a divine punishment against China at this point.

I've been thinking that way, too. God must've been pissed with China for a long time now but has started getting impatient as the heavenly clock ticks closer to The Great and Terrible Day. It's kind of odd that if this is what'll collapse the CCP after all these years, it didn't take politics to take care of it (although technically it has since it's now biting them in the ass really hard), but Mother Nature being fucked around with by humans. Life finds a way, indeed.

China's rich history shouldn't have to come to an end like this. It's kind of depressing, in a way, you'd think China would go out fighting.

To be fair the WHO's real job is to facilitate comunication and data analysis for medical professionals on a global scale, so naming is basically the most important thing they do. Aside from that all they do is push propaganda and every once in a while maintain a woefully mismanaged database of "medical facts" that mord often than not pisses off the actual scientists. So really, they should've started doing this shit before asking for money to "fight trolls" whatever the fuck that means.

To be fairer. The scientific name, nCoV-19 was already established long ago, so this only muddies scientific debate, so good job WHO keep fucking up. And of course the real reason why they came up with the name is so people don't use a name that references China because the WHO's pockets are lined thick with the pollution goblin's gold. But that won't work. No self respecting politician would use COVID19 as a name. And the memes are way past the point of no return. This is the Wuhan Flu. No one can debate that fact. China and the WHO will have to eat cocks, which they're used to already anyway.

Hubei Communist Party officials sacked

The two most senior health officials in Hubei have been sacked, state media said on Tuesday, as pressure mounts over the way local authorities have handled the epidemic.

Zhang Jin, the Communist Party boss of the provincial health commission in Hubei, and its director Liu Yingzi have been removed from their positions, reported state broadcaster CCTV, after a decision by the province's party committee on Monday.

The area has found itself at the centre of a coronavirus outbreak that has killed more than 1,000 people and infected over 42,000 across China since December.

Local officials have faced mounting pressure for perceived incompetence – particularly after the death of a doctor in the provincial capital Wuhan who was punished for raising the alarm about the new virus.

Deputy director of National Health Commission Wang Hesheng will take over the two roles, said CCTV.

In another sign of personnel changes at ground zero of the outbreak, senior Beijing official Chen Yixin has been sent to Wuhan to guide epidemic control work.

Chen – a former deputy party chief of Hubei – has been appointed deputy head of a central government group dispatched to the province, according to a report from the health commission on its WeChat account.

Analysts have said local authorities played down the extent of the outbreak in early January because they were holding political meetings at the time and wanted to project an image of stability.

Hubei remains on virtual lockdown to curb the spread of the virus.

Local Communist Party secretary Ma Guoqiang acknowledged last week that officials had worsened the spread by failing to restrict travel earlier.

Wuhan authorities also faced criticism in January for going ahead with an annual public banquet for 40,000 families just days before the city was placed on lockdown.

Other manpower changes have been taking place in the province, including the removal of a top Red Cross official in Wuhan for dereliction of duty. (AFP)

If facilitating communication is the WHO's job then they should be lined against the wall and shot for gross incompetence. The amount of intentional misinformation taken as gospel is beyond anything in the last half century (at the very least). It's been 3 weeks since the story broke out and we keep getting new information that were in all due likelihood known to the Chinese authorities a month ago. There is no excuse except economic reasons, and if that's the thing that keeps the WHO from functioning then the whole organization is obsolete and should be disbanded.
