One observation re China using the PLA to put down any unrest. In 1989 Beijing had to bring in units from distant areas to put Tien-An-Men down. Soviets did the same thing during their time.

But what happens when this virus is raging all over the country? Am sure PLA troops will hear from their relatives, who will be in all parts of the country. So the tactic of sending in "foreign" troops to put down local unrest may not work. Could see PLA troops facing sick/hungry people like those in their home areas, refuse to fire, maybe turn guns on their own officers. You know such acts will go viral, no pun intended.

Just a thought. Anything can happen, and sometimes things can happen very quickly.

Added: Still believe this is man-made. As previously stated, have visited outdoor markets many times when living in Korea, years ago. Thousands of Americans from the nearby US base also would go to the market. Never heard of any respiratory illness transmitted by produce at the market. If so, the base would have immediately put market off-limits until things were cleaned up. US bases all over Korea at that time, and every adjoining town/city had markets. Not aware of any respiratory infections at any of those markets, either. These outdoor markets are a fact of life not just in China, but all over Asia, and many other places in the world.

A LOOOOOOOONG time ago (Read: Clinton Administration) the US government supported medical companies having factories in the US so they could operate even at a loss to continue to put out medication. The same with anything else deemed "National Security" like military supplies and the like.

Then, it was decided that doing that was stupid.

And here we are.

US military uniforms and gear made in China, electronics made in Taiwan, medicine made in China.

China became the world's manufacturing hub for everything, just so you could buy your lead paint covered asbestos filled toys at Wal-Mart cheap so planned obsolescence and short life before replacement could be the watchword of the day.

Just think of how a $5 little add-on saves the screens on most phones, but the companies that make the phones don't add that to make their phones last longer.

Ah, well.

Do I enjoy my cheap luxuries? Well, duh.

But I can live without them.

New numbers reflect number of clinically diagnosed cases. In other words that shit a few days ago about not counting asymptomatic cases must be out the window. Maybe the WHO can do something useful afterall.

Well, if Corona-Chan keeps doing lap dances at the rate the strip club is letting her, this is about a predicted jump. We should start to see it growing even faster and faster numerically while it sticks to the current infection rate.
