Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

This reminds me, Chris Ayres knows a little about termination from anime dubbing studios. A couple years ago his girlfriend, Krystal LaPorte, was suddenly terminated from Sentai. Sentai never commented on it, and as far as I remember the cause of her termination wasn't made known even to her. Oddly, references to this seem to be scrubbed from google, with only some reddit threads mentioning it.

Compare this to "we don't condone harassment" Funimation.

The irony is strong.

My guess is he's the first to start laying the groundwork for a ...

"We had no idea. Being good supporters of feminism who believe whammen in the #MeToo era, we gave them our support. The outcome here is unfortunate for everyone. We are as much a victim in all this, but we were just being cautious. We hope these poor whamminZ get the support they need and ask that you give them privacy as they work to regain your trust. And we hope you all redouble your efforts to vigilant and report these evil sexual predators in the future."

Notice the non-apology to Vic/excuses for involvement and the soft pedaling/victimization of the actual perps. Thats what you'll likely be seeing a lot of.

EDIT: God how could I have left this out?

"But we can be thankful that a long overdue conversation was started and now more people than ever are blah blah blah..."

The Johnny Depp stuff is a view breaking thing. A lot of people are rethinking this whole hysteria. That maybe, maybe people aren't as smart and all knowing as they think they are.

"I wish I could give you a reason, I wish I knew the reason. No one will tell me why. No one will even talk to me. I only found out when they announced the casts, and instantly the people I consider my family started acting like I didn't exist."

Chris Ayres has implied that she was blacklisted because of his illness.

Chris was made a comment on Facebook when the October TCPA ruling happened that seemed pro-Monica and Jamie.

He may not have been thinking of Vic, but he's made some tweets about how his "friends" stopped talking to him as soon as he stopped being able to cast them. This was in reference to his theatre work, but he's directed a bunch of stuff at Funimation too.

And if they had done this to Vic, Funimation wouldn't even be in court. But no, they couldn't just kick him in the teeth and destroy him, they had to kick him when he was down too and defame him for woke points. Hope it was worth it to those motherfuckers.

So the American Anime industry across the board is exactly like the American Comics mainstream. Management level cliques controlling their little fifedoms through fear. Not remotely shocked.

If this gets passed appeals, the email that Monica sent to Funimation urging them to put out an official statement is going to be used to bury her.

Patrick Seitz is kickvic right?

Cause if I remember right, he's part of Cup of Tea Productions, which manages a lot of mid tier JRPGs like Tales of and Fire Emblem. I'm asking this cause I noticed they had a lot of Texas VAs in their games, but surprisingly, never Vic. They even had Monica somehow, though I sincerely hope they don't cast her for any of their future roles.

I don't know about anti-Vic (wouldn't surprise me, though) but he was the dude that responded to Jessie Pridemore, saying that he knew who her alleged rapist was before Todd came forward - and said something along the lines of "he wasn't shocked" "I have my suspicions". I'll try to find that post...

A Kiwi guessed correctly:
Ahaha oh wow, if Patrick Seitz believes her then damn. If I had to take a stab in the dark I'd guess Todd Haberkorn.

I remember a tweet about believe victims or something.

Also that's fucking hypocritical of him then. Todd was literally just in Three Houses. And he voiced like 3 characters in FEH.

Can very much confirm Puss Puss Seitz being KV, even before Hussie Thotmore’s Wild Clout Chasing Ride she went on and Peppermint Patty talked to her~ I called him out on his victims post, stating that if Vic was a predator and this was an “open secret” for years then that meant Patrick, along with the Failmation Gang Bang, Con Owners, and Consluts were all equally guilty of sacrificing the general public to an alleged sexual predator.

He got triggered and blocked me because I didn’t praise those troglodytes for “outing” Vic, lmao.

Are you sure about that? I seem to remember he wasn't pro vic. At best, he was on the fence but I think he was leaning the other way. Maybe I'm wrong on that but it rings a bell or two for me.

Hmm.Well if he's turned on Vic recently that's sad. Vic called Chris while doing a panel at Anime Matsuri last year. Got the crowd to say hi and wish him feeling better on a voicemail. He said that Chris texted him back a thank you or something. Vic seemed to think they were still friends.

Vic voiced Vishnal in Rune Factory 4
DC Douglas, Patrick Seitz, Wendee lee and Bryce Papenbrook all had roles in it too.

Well, Vic used to consider everyone he met a friend. He also thought the defendants were his friends. It probably wasn't that difficult to become friends with Vic in the past...

That said, I don't remember Chris ever saying anything explicitly anti Vic. He did like the Dallas morning news article though, I'm pretty sure. But so did Caitlin and everyone here is hesitant to call her kickvic for it, so I don't know.

I'd consider Chris a friend of Vic for now.
