The other tip that it's all bullshit is that he said the potential sponsors said they watched his content and "it was positive" but dealing with detractors wasn't worth it. So they want someone to promote their product but they don't want someone popular, or entertaining, or fun, or with thousands of viewers. No, they wanted to have Phil represent them because he's "positive"...which coincidentally is the exact word Phil constantly uses about his streams and no one else uses or cares about.

I think "no imagination" still holds weight because the few times he hasn't essentially made himself he's made characters that already exist, such as making the Joker in (I think) Bloodborne. He can't be fucked to imagine what his character ought to look like so he just makes himself and when he decides not to do that he just recreates something recognizable that he knows.

It's just a symptom of the larger problem that for whatever reason he refuses to emotionally engage with the games he plays. It's all just about getting to the end within the time he's allotted himself in his autism-riddled, gin-soaked brain and making as much money as he can doing it. He doesn't care about story or decisions or characters and so he treats those aspects with apathy or joking dismissal (at best) or vitriolic ranting (at worst). Him inserting himself is probably a blend of disinterest and ego (since most chargens have a randomizer mechanic, or set of defaults).

I wish he'd stop playing RPGs altogether, seeing as how he's never appreciated a narrative in his entire life (except his own, maybe).

It's funny you talk about imagination because I was watching the TIHYDP Ocarina of Time 3DS and it stuck out that his brain doesn't work properly.
He'd fuck around in a room, leave it, re-enter the room, and be completely flummoxed. Specifically in Jabu Jabu belly he'd drop down the same hole again and again, and get surprise sexed by the same jellyfish again and again. It's like he wasn't taking in what was happening. At one point he left a room, came back in, and was astounded that the enemies respawned. It could be true that he just doesn't care about the game and he's not paying attention and he just wants it to end and he's only playing games for money, but I think it goes deeper.

If you're a DSP fan you'll remember he used to do "Cooking with the King", which can be separated into two parts: videos where he cooks bacon and cheese, and videos where he opens plastic packets of pre-cooked bacon and pre-grated cheese. It's clear that his diet largely consists of packaged cheeses and pre-cooked frozen microwaveable meats. He has gout. That's a fucking medieval disease.
