Mods cleaned up a bit too much, when they booted the sperg so I'm reposting this:
As far as I know these are Ben Hurst's actual words on the matter. I've highlighted the part specifically related to Penders in blue in the first quote, but it's an interesting read if you want to see how horrible the show management was.

I''d say it was more Ian having to make slightly less complicated stories by quietly dropping some of Penders characters to being forced to drop an outright nuke on the whole thing is what doomed them. It was doing fine in sales and there were quite a few people who stopped reading because it wasn't the world they knew anymore. Fuck, Endangered Species was so bad, you could literally see the last minute edits they had to do because of the lawsuit.
Good thing Ken has a small internet presence now. Calling Ben a sad fool would definitely rile up quite a few people otherwise. Also just a distasteful way to talk about the dead.
I'm also gonna point back to my old post detailing Ben specifically blaming Penders for the deal going to shit
It is, which makes the fact that he chose to call out the one with the neutral stance instead of the one that directly criticized his work hilarious.I believe the writer of the NY Mag article is the same as the writer of the Medium article.
You have to look up Su and Knuckle's extended family/entire tribe.Besides looking like a cheerful version of Carl Fartgon of A Wad, what's wrong with him?
I am still impressed that Dreamworks wanted to work with this man and his Mary Sues. But geez, he's even more an asshole than John K. was when he tried to make a film with them. That article was actually a pretty decent summary of the drama surrounding Penders with tons of links for additional context. They even covered Penders talking about Sally's virginity status, that's funny. Ol' Bobby is definitely not a fan of the man from reading that article though.
Also, this video has enraged Penders into going back into the botched deal he had with Ben Hurst

“This video perpetuates a lie. Ben Hurst was NEVER involved in anything having to do with SONIC ARMAGEDDON. There was no power struggle. Ben was working in the animation industry in LA while I was creating comics from my Buffalo, NY area home. https://t.co/AOgEVACRNT”twitter.com

If this thread is going to keep getting bumped, here’s something relevant to it:

I read every Sonic comic by Ken Penders, and they’re wilder than you could ever imagine
Former Sonic writer Ken Penders is famous for his legal battles with Archie. What comes up less is the actual content of his stories.medium.com
Ironic considering he copyrighted Sonic's parents awayThe ego on this guy, holy hell.

“I'll never know the answer to this, but I wonder if the lack of Sonic's parents in the movie is a result of me featuring them in stories before anyone else. They just seemed like obvious characters necessary to the growth & development of Sonic.”twitter.com
“I’m the only one who ever thought about Sonic’s parents! Me me me!”
Thing that surprises me is how Ken doesn't try to pull a Threshold and claim he was the one who helped to define Sonic more than Sega did and try to sue them for the main characters of the franchise.Ironic considering he copyrighted his parents away
He probably thinks his are the “true canon” or whatever.Ironic considering he copyrighted Sonic's parents away
Does he still claim to be doing anything with those characters?
Latest I could find is something from 2018, so it's possible.Does he still claim to be doing anything with those characters?
That last sentence feels like it's suppose to be a slam against someone, but I'm not sure who. It's not a brag, so we can safely assume it wasn't aimed at the people who made the Sonic movie, and I'm pretty sure no one has ever said that he could, so he's not really making a point here either. It's just a weird thing to say there. It's "almost" done. Just took 10 years to make a comic about purely drawn echidnas.

“This is reality: I’m on the verge of finishing up a project that took 10 years to get to this point. THE LARA-SU CHRONICLES graphic novel & app is another long-gestating project. I required help to do both. It was never possible for me to do a Sonic film by myself.”twitter.com
9 years after anyone would have really even cared a little. Why should I care about these characters when they no longer have any relevance or history with where they came from? They may as well be different people. It's "almost" done. Just took 10 years to make a comic about purely drawn echidnas.
