Nearly 10 years before Mobius X Years later Penders set it up in the comic second year of existence, Penders being hired was a mistake from the start. Speaking of Sonic, is it ok in quality and does it avoid IDW soyness found in others of their products

Been a while since I've read Sonic, but from what I remember it's a perfectly fine kids comics and Ian is aware enough to know Sonic is not his baby and keeps the soy and politics out.

I honestly forget the context. I believe he was complaining that Archie would not allow him to reference it in a story. It was the skunk character. Paraphrasing here, but Penders said something along the lines of “Sonic is fast, but someone else beat him there.”

Number one rule for artist: Don't trace, ever! Sooner or later someone will always find out, and in the era of the internet it is inevitable.

If his excuse is that he didn't want to draw a "random black guy" he could have referenced images of Anthony Mackie to create an original portrait, not just outright trace it like a two-bit hack.

One thing I've always been suspicious of are his Star Trek: TNG comics. He managed to really capture the likenesses of the cast quite well so I wonder if he was tracing image stills from the show even back then.
