Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

Apparently, Vic's live streams can not be screen-capped & posted somewhere else. However, this isn't a KV thing considering it's actually from a RR who's also a mod & ambassador at Unlocked, who's pretty angry.

Apparently, as per the mod they can be copyrighted (remember how well that went for Cohen),

Personally, I'd say Vic won't mind it even if they keep posting it.

Ishra Cameos on the Farms:

That's dumb as hell. The clips from Vic's unlocked streams always amass a bunch of likes and shares, whether it's him telling his fans to be positive or him telling fans to contact cons to ask them to invite him. Him addressing the allegations on unlocked recently was shared quite a lot on YouTube and twitter. Stuff like this really holds the fans together.

It'd r.etarded to take that away from the fans simply because Lynn or marzgunt or whoever upload clips from his streams with mean comments attached. Who cares. Let people watch the streams and make up their own minds. Not everybody can watch them on Unlocked, though.

I also find it hard to believe unlocked owns these streams. Does Vic even own the streams?

It's said that Vic could claim the videos, but the mod could claim it in his name, considering there's no where Vic approves or even disapproves the usage of these videos outside Unlocked, this could be counted as Copyright Infringement.

In one video he literally says I know this is being filmed so I'm taking to everyone, not just those of you on unlocked 🙄 doesn't seem like he cares.

Curious, I never new Vic prior to this, never watched Anime, hell...still have not and was drawn into this scenario to track an injustice of a man being accused of a crime he never committed mostly through a random pop-up of Rekeita Law over a year ago...

Are there others who share this outside-in perspective coming from a non-Anime World background that were unfamiliar with Vic?

I know anime, and like FMA; but rarely watched dubs. That was one of the few, and I never knew who he was until youtube suggested Clownfish TV to me covering it, and after watched Nick about Maddox by accident and he covered Vic.

It's fascinating how this all went.

Interesting, yes, it is a fascinating scenario, agreed as that is generally how it went for me...

I knew original FMA and some old school anime. But I wasn't a fan of his. I was drawn in because I hated what was happening to him. This situation was similar to another I had seen and I wasn't gonna stand for it.

Also look at this adorable picture. Instagram has way more fan pictures than Twitter. Makes sense since Twitter is a cesspool.

I do enjoy shitting on Funimation through the avenue of twitter, so it has a purpose (however cancerous). If Funi didn't lose a ton of subs over Vic, then they did with this recent Ishuzoku bungling and pissing off every hardcore BD buying fanservice fan they had. Soyny owning them wholesale ensures these kinds of things will continue. It's an isolated trash fire burning so brightly most anime fans passing by take notice.

Twitter is a horrorbox at this point. I'm not sure why anyone takes it seriously.

Funimation was trending #1 for hours with a fairly sizable scandal, and it amounted to less than nothing. That should give an indication of exactly how much stock anyone should put on any drama covered by it. Gas the platform entirely, no value is lost

Well renfamous, manjaw and the like would probably shrivel up and die without twitter. So there's something to gain from it.

How the hell do you guys even become aware of this exceptional shit happening on twitter? Who cares?
The most I do is check out Nick's vods when there's an update and come here for discussion.

At the end of the day people are going to talk (on twitter). What they have to say is negligible at best. Then again, this whole nonsense started on twitter, so what do I know
I long ago switched my trending region to Japan so I never see any of the latest outrage happening in the west, helps that I also mainly follow Japanese accounts. Very rarely will any of the anime loons cross my timeline, when they do I just ignore them because nothing they say hasn't been repeated a thousand times before by their ilk.

Twitter is full of people that think their opinions are worth sharing and being heard, especially when it comes to hot button issues. I don't mind people using it for posting harmless stuff like memes or pictures of their animals, but the amount of people that use Twitter as their personal soapbox drowns them out. What makes it worse is that half of them aren't even original and just repeat the endless drone of "X bad because Y and that makes me uncomfortable."

日本人ですか。ことじゃなければ、どうして日本のツイッターだけ使っていますか。

I hope you guys are aware that doxing is now illegal according to the big brained ComeGeekSome and you are all going to jail now for being on Kiwifarms.

I think his point was more that it's illegal to collect someone's information in an attempt to cause some sort of harm irl, which he's claiming Shane and KillVic have done to multiple people because "it was the right thing to do." That was what I got from a quick skim at least.

I'm pretty sure that distinction of "to cause harm" does not exist. You could make that argument for anybody doxed on this site and Kiwifarms would have been closed years ago.

That's the funny thing KVers don't get (or don't want to get, some are stupid, others are disingenuous), that the people "standing" with Vic are not simply his fanbase.
While being an anime viewer, I'm not from an english speaking country, so you can easily guess that I didn't ever watch an english dub, and had no clue who Vic was prior to 2019.
And that might be an assumption, but I'm fairly sure most anime fans, even in America, don't know who Vic is, as people usually don't care about voice actors.

There are a few voice actors who actually are famous, like Mark Hamill, but most of them aren't.
Maybe a lot of people can tell that Kevin Conroy is Batman's voice, but who can honnestly tell without checking on google who voices Superman?
And if most people have no clue who voices a character as big as Superman, just forget about knowing who voices Edward Elrick or Broly.
I'm sure most people, including anime fans, were (and still are) unfamiliar with Vic.

Thanks for sharing and I think that is why the GoFundMe is so despised, misunderstood or just them being disingenuous about it. The idea of those outside their broken circle would have interest in such matters. I just find it fascinating the absurd righteousness that pours out of these awful people.

I am in no way Japanese, but my main reason for switching to Japanese trending is to not have to deal with the garbage common in my area and getting to see when there's been any big releases in some of the games I play. Bonus is that surfing through those tags, especially the "show off your artwork" tags has introduced me to some great artists.

I'm hoping I read your question properly, my Japanese is rusty from not keeping a constant practice schedule.
