Not everyone has someone for V day, that's fine that's life. Even where I live, people get cute little sweets and cards from co-workers nowadays. You can be single and still come to work to find a little pile of notes and Hershey Kisses on your desk from others.

That said I had a concerning though about lucas today. We all know how he pisses in his sink because he is too lazy to go down the hall to the shared bathroom right, so it stands to reason he uses it to jizz in as well. Given his appalling lack of proper dish washing I doubt he cleans the sink properly either. So what i'm saying is if he is jizzing in his sink and not cleaning it or the dishes, then it stands to reason at least a tiny amount of said jizz ends up in the water in the sink when he does 'wash' his dishes, so it gets stuck on the plates and cups or whatever and since they aren't cleaned.....

One could make the logical assumption that every cup, plate, pot, fork, etc... in his apartment has traces of his jizz on it....which is disgusting as fuck and even moreso when you consider he would want to cook dinner for his tween dates....would in essence be eating food contaminated with his jizz

Let that disturbing thought sink in for a minute. It might even be intentional on his part. It certainly sounds like something he would do deliberately

The big problem with SSI is while the process to first get it is long and the gov't goes through everything and requires numerous doctor reports... once you're on SSI, everyone stops caring about anything you do as long as you're under the $2000 asset limit. People that stop taking medication and having any care workers is very common, and it looks like Lucas is one of those. I can go on for days about the mental health system in the US... it's infuriating.

For all that I wish there were some non-intrusive way to force people like Lucas to take their meds, I doubt it would help even if such a rule were in place. Given how broken his brain is, I don't think he'd be truly capable of following it -- even if his handler told him "You will have to leave your room and stop getting your disability checks RIGHT NOW RIGHT NOW RIGHT NOW unless you start taking your pills," he wouldn't. It would be like trying to discipline an infant by saying "Eat your strained veggies or it's no college fund for you!" A baby is incapable of understanding why they have to eat vegetables, or why "a college fund" is a nice thing to have; a baby can't really think about anything other than what they want RIGHT NOW RIGHT NOW RIGHT NOW.

Exactly. Its a perfectly reasonable expectation, it keeps people who need meds on their meds with a minimum of supervision required to arrange it, and protects them, the public and decreases the chances of them fucking up. Likely increasing the chance of some people improving enough to be able to hold down an actual job. Not many perhaps but at least some. Its win-win for everyone. and like JuniperFalls said, people like lucas simply can't be trusted to keep to their meds, even when they know there are serious consequences to not doing so. Even if he had a court order saying do the meds or go to jail I don't think he could keep taking them on his own. Slow release injections for psych meds are a godsend for people like him and for the mental health field in general
