Any idea why these first two weeks of October have been so high in terms on contributions?
He has exceeded the daily and nightly tips goal every day for the last two weeks.
I always reveled during the “tips are very slow” salty moments but they’re basically nonexistent right now.
I’m under the impression that tips have increased since the announcement of the bankruptcy; an unpredicted, indirect effect of telling everyone he’s broke thus motivating his spergs to donate more:
(I think you mean February instead of October?)
Here's an attempt to give some kind of an overview, based on my own numbers:
Disclaimer: the numbers should be fairly accurate, unless I fucked up big time somewhere. In that case it was not my fault. Nothing I could do.
<> Average amounts of tips/cheers/subs/totals - calculated over the past six months (Aug-Jan), DSP received the following amounts on average:
- average tips per month: $4.175
- average cheers and subs per month: $3.726
- average total (cheers, subs, tips) per month: $7.901
<> Current stats since the Bankruptcy Saga announcement was made, so from January 16 to February 16:
- tips: $5.514 => 132% compared to average
- cheers + subs: $3.504 => 94% compared to average
- total (tips + cheers + subs): $9.018 => 114% compared to average
So yeah, tips are up by a decent amount and cheers + subs are around the average amount since the bankruptcy was announced, making the total to be around 14% above average.
But here's the kicker: the tips amount has been boosted by a couple of significant contributions during this period. For example:
- a couple of people went all out during the February 12 Pokéscam stream, outbidding each other with multiple $25+ tips (one person's tips added up to at least $192)
- "Godzilla" tipped $200 during the February 13 early stream
- Straightcashhomie29 has been stepping up with multiple $10-40 tips the past few week in an attempt to buy his way into becoming a mod
In short: a couple of paypigs have been stepping up, so nothing we haven't seen before, tbh.
To put things into perspective, DSP received roughly $920 in tips alone during the four streams of February 12 & 13. I haven't calculated what DSP receives on average per day in tips, but just looking at the numbers I'd estimate that to be around $150 a day (the two streams combined).
So if you take away the exorbitant $920 received during the four streams of February 12 & 13 and replace that with the "normal average" of $300 (2 * $150 a day), you'll get a tips total for Jan 16 to Feb 16 of $5.514 -/- $620 = $4.894 instead. Compared to the 6-month average of $4.175, that's "only" 117%. And this is excluding (most of) Straightcashhomie29's sudden tipping surge, for example.
So yeah, that should give a rough idea of how much of an impact a handful of whales can have on monthly totals.
