I dislike it because it seems to be a form of attention whoring and a way of setting up excuses to get “triggered” at people online and get “justifiably” angry over the most inconsequential shit.It really is bizarre to see zoomers qualify their social media descriptions with “he/him, she/her” unironically, and these are regular hetero kids that don’t actually deal with misgendering issues. And yet it’s the first thing listed in there bios. “I go by he/him”, yeah, no shit Kyle, my fucking eyeballs work.
I don’t know if I dislike it because it’s trendy virtue signally or because the norm for the future will be the majority confirming to the will of the vocal minority.
I noticed a friend of mine did the exact same thing. When asked, he said he did it because “Everybody else was doing it.” (He does follow a lot of hyper-sensitive people on social media but isn’t anything “speshul” himself.) I then said something along the lines of “Man, ain’t nobody gonna mess up your pronouns, you Mew2King-looking muthafukka!”
